People who answer "for sale" or "to give away free" ads with phrases such as: "I'll take that," "I want that one," "the name-of-object is for me," and "I'll fetch that on Wednesday evening" etc., with no pleases, no thank-yous and seemingly no concept that the seller or giver has a life, too, and ought to be treated with a minimum of good manners.
Thank you for letting me post this, my very first micro-rant.
You forgot the ones that don't bother to show up or call after all that no-please, no-thank you behavior.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Why don't Swiss shops sell a Flymo Turbo 400 when I want one? None of the DIY shops have them. In France (Leyroy Merlin) it's 129.99 euros (=137 chf) & the only Swiss site I can see it is on Galaxus which people have previously ranted about & they have it at 252 chf. Yet another unexplainable price difference so it looks like it'll be bought in France.

That's because it's the wrong type of machine. When you're fully assimilated, you will be using one of these:

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Effing housing!

Ceilings made of cardboard, walls made of papier mâché, Novilon floors, bathroom in the hallway, bathroom to share with your neighbour, shower in your kitchen (yes, I stumbled on this ad, unbelievable), WC accessible only through the kitchen (yummy, the fumes)!

And these even in CHF +1500 apartments!

Many of the offerings don't even accurately describe these lovely features in the ads, so you lose your time and get pranked.

It's embarrassing to say the least.

Well…fortunately the beautiful mountains make me a happy camper

In France, most of those 2 rooms holiday apartments to let (actually normal apartments in normal blocks of flats) have one bathroom with a shower and a sink or two and one separate small toilet (if you're bigger you can't read a newspaper in there for sure) without any sink. Never understood why. And they are not in old building as the apt. in your ad! Last time we rented an apt. in a new building which was nice otherwise....a pity. Plus it's not cheap at all.....depending on location.

The toilet is actually on the stairwell outside the flat and shared with the neighbour from what I understood from the ad. Wouldn't that mean going out through the front door to the loo rather than through the kitchen?

The shower in the kitchen is rather weird too but apart from that and the WC issue it doesn't actually look that bad for the price.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Oh wow, good rant ... the shower in the kitchen is totally weird. Surely it would make more sense to have a toilet & sink in the private flat & a shared shower room in the hallway. Just imagine how many people have peed in the shower overnight instead of going out into the toilet.

All the features that I listed where from a recent search. Many apply to just one apartment though. The linked ad has the WC in the stairwell and the shower in the kitchen. A couple of weeks ago I saw an apartment for about CHF 1550 with the bathroom (WC + shower) also in the stairwell, inhabited by a Swiss family of 2 adults + 2 children.

Anyway, they should really think that this place should have some room for a tiny, even if a caricature of a washstand somewhere in a corner. IMHO

Many have a micro-sink where you can wash one hand, then the other one, but surely not your face. Anyway, I prefer WC and shower in different rooms hands down. And many old buildings have these — from a time when architecture was thought for human beings and not for cockroaches I guess

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Our local jet carwash was heaving today because of the nice weather with waits of over 15 minutes... and all because some inconsiderate idiots think its OK to finish washing their cars and then instead of driving off they begin drying with chamois leathers, detailing their tyres etc.. completely oblivious to all the waiting cars

Right next to the carwash there's a row of free parking spots where you can finish off your cars.

But every one knows that you shouldn't wash/dry your car in direct sunlight ... the covered car wash bars are the perfect spot for a quick shammy!

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Touch screen car parking meters.

Note to whoever is in charge of these things: if you're going to install touch screens on the parking meters please put a cover over the bloody things. Touch screens do not work well when it's pouring with rain as demonstrated by the huge queue of people trying desperately to pay for their parking this morning. I was almost late for my appointment.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Bus drivers!!!!
- Excessive braking when approaching a stop or junction ... they can clearly see when/where they have to stop and probably stop there several times per day.
- Excessive acceleration when pulling away!
- Refusing to open the doors, even though they are 1 minute earlier than shown on the time table!

The first two points I wonder if they are either just very bad drivers, or get a kick out of knocking standing passengers off balance.

Is it just here in Switzerland, or the world over?
