Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

Sounds quite normal to me...

The thoroughness of the final cleaning is notoriously important in Switzerland, as this implies time and professional cleaning products.

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

I find that terrible , if the Coop and Migros were to stock the correct level of cleaning products then we wouldn't have this huge additional cost....just a money spinner in my eyes......

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

If you feel ready to do the job yourself, it's perfectly possible.

But be ready to spend at least a week cleaning your flat in places you didn't even know you had (behind heaters, blinds inside and outise, etc.).

If you're too lazy to do it yourself, you have to pay...

i've known collegues that done it themselves without any major hiccups with the cleaning products sold at Migros/COOP.

What's wrong with the cleaning products in the Migro and Coop?

I've moved twice within Switzerland and also helped others three times (taking on all the cleaning myself) using their stuff and never had an problems. It takes time, but is perfectly doable.

Do it yourself? If it is such a small flat, won't take you long.

There is a professional cleaning service person on this website, I think he goes under the name Confloosed or something similar - you can probably find him easily enough.
But yes, I agree, the original price quoted is way too high for a 2 roomed apartment.

The person the op should contact is Diamond Cleaning http://www.diamondcleaningch.com/contact-us/

Article here http://newinzurich.com/2014/03/john-...e-swiss-style/

I used him and he was great and very competitively priced, and I have only heard great feedback about him from other people too.

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

I've always cleaned by myself and never had problems, only compliments. However, the last one was 3 rooms, 100 m2 and it took me 16 hours over 2 days, and that was with a steam cleaner, which really helps with the bathroom, blinds and windows. I wouldn't do it again, but I also wouldn't pay 1500 chf unless it included any small repairs to the walls and painting over scuff marks etc.

You can also ask your usual cleaner, if you have one, to help with the big stuff while you do the nooks and crannies. You can ask the concierge to recommend someone to do the windows and blinds if necessary. They often offer to do it themselves for a few hundred francs. The kitchen should be done over a couple of weeks, otherwise it's pretty back-breaking to clean all those cupboards and drawers.

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

1500 CHF seems like way too much. My contract states that 600CHF will be taken for cleaning at the end of my contract, I think this means the agency will sort it themselves. It doesn't include any repairs they may have to do though - does your quote include that? If not, I'd get another quote.

But you live in Basel and their rulings on the standard of cleaning are different. They used to be Very Different. 'Besenrein' was the word used when we lived there.

I wouldn't worry about it, once you're gone it's not your issue any longer.

Just seems a bit extreme to be worrying about minor details at this stage.

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

On moving out of our apartment in Basel in 2010 we were offered a CHF500 "Pauschal" to leave the apartment "Besenrein".

As we had moved to Zurich and doing the cleaning ourselves would have involved enlisting childcare to look after our 3 year old for the duration plus time off work which probably would have wiped out any saving made by cleaning ourselves
we went for th 500 chuff option.

Maybe it shows a little the way you live if you need to pay this much for cleaning............not really something i'd want to advertise too much

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

We just moved from a 125 square meter place, 3 bedrooms, 2 levels, 2 basements, pretty big.
It cost 1500CHF which we were happy about.
With the stress involved in moving, cleaning a place should be the least of it. Pay for it, be happy you're not cleaning it to Swiss Standards, which in my opinion are perfectly in order.
Think about moving into a new place and finding someone elses pubic hair in the last place one would find one, then the doubt lingers to how well it was actually cleaned....not here!

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

Well yes- but it means FIFTY hours @ 30CHF per hour- which is... 7 full days work! I agree that it does seem a tad (lol) excessive for a 2 bed flat, no. So I do sympathise OP. The cleaner is probably paid a lot less than that- and the company pockets the rest.
