LG G3 never get one

For the last two month I have been living the nightmare of having a defective LG G3 phone.

It started when suddenly it stopped working. It went off and it never turned on again.

I contacted my dealer (Digitec) to check for the warranty and they informed me that the responsible company for LG reparations is Mobiletouch AG.
After filling the reparation form, I sen t my phone there.
It returned after 10 days approximately. But....It was not working.
The phone restarted alone all the time.
I sent it back, complaining or this issue. Again it came back, and again with the same issue.
Then I contacted them but also LG, both asked me to send again the phone, with the promise that this time was going to work.
Of course it came back, and of course, once again defective.
Now I contacted them again and also LG, telling them that is not possible this situation and that they must give me back my money or a new phone.
The answer of LG was as simple as : "We don't give back the money and in our swap program we can replace the parts with refurbished ones".

Conclusion, I have to send now again my phone, hoping that one day it works again only to sell it as fast as possible and get a real phone.

I will never buy again an LG product in my life .

Unfortunately I don't know any Swiss customer protection org and my German is not good enough like to make the right complaining if I would know that office (hoping it exists)

Don't talk to LG - complain to Digitec, that's who your contract is with.

Point 11 - tell them to get it fixed within two weeks (list the previous attempts to make it clear this is a reasonable period) or you want your money back.

You can probably do it online through some sort of returns form, if not then do it by email so you have a record and the German isn't such a problem. If necessary just Google Translate the lot - it's not an exam, it only has to be understandable.

Hi Castro, thanks for you comment, sorry but I'm not agree on that.

I got a New phone, why should I get a refurbished one as reparation? That's LG policy, not Mobiletouch.

And, as responsible for the brand, LG they should take actions when one of the companies that they contract is not giving the right attention to their customers. I bought an LG phone, not a Mobiletouch.

I feel LG doesn't care too much about it.

As LG customer I feel totally disappointed.

OK, fair enough I missed the point about you also contacting LG. Hope you manage to get the issue sorted.

Great, I followed your recommendation and it did work. I sent an email to Digitec informing about the situation and also the document with my rights, after requiring me the docs to prove that the service company tried to repair the phone 4 times, they gave me back the money that I have payed for the phone.

I have to say Digitec customer service was quite fast and of course satisfactory for me.

Thanks again for your tip, it really saved me!

Now I'm thinking which phone should I buy.

Glad you got a satisfying outcome in the end, it's just a shame that Swiss companies need the rules quoting to them in order to get things done.

About Digitec and Mobiletouch - I had to send in a Moto G for service. It took about a month! Mobiletouch said they don't repair them, they just do the logistics. So perhaps they do some brands in-house, like Samsung maybe, but the rest they just ship out.

The problem is taht the new Nexus 5 is made by LG... I'm over with them.

And the new 6, made by Huawei is to big for me.

sadly, you can get a lemon from any manufacturer. and replacement with a refurbished phone is not atypical. if you can get the phone replaced by digitec, then it is probably not something you need to worry about too much.

i had a lg g3 for a few days. i didn't like the phone, but it worked fine. also had 2 nexus 5s which also worked without problem. so as a manufacturer, i don't have too many worries about lg.

i can buy the new 5x and test it for you for a few days :P

I know what you mean, the problem is that when I contacted LG for this issue the customer service was a disaster, they didn't care at all and basically told me "go with your problem somewhere else", I think they are famous for this.

I'm far away from being a fanboy but I think with Apple this kind of things don't happen, maybe I'm wrong. But of course you pay that on the Phone, an iPhone 6S would cost me around 700 I guess and I don't like IOS so much...

I hope I don't end with them again. Had all iPhones till the 5, then I moved to Android and I like it.

Agreed.

It was probably a dry joint or short on one the chips on the PCB. I had a Motorola that behaved in the same way. Orange did replace the phone though.
If you ever want to try and reproduce a fault consistently, try cooling it in the fridge for a few hours before switching it on or warming it in a pocket before doing the same.

Most phones are manufactured by sub-contractors. If you had a faulty iPhone, would you complain about Apple or Foxconn?

Phones off the line get functionally tested for a few seconds each -automatically. A few get pulled off for a longer soak test at temperature which usually shows up any production line (or design ) serial faults.
But as Phil said, a few lemons always get through.

Clearly to Apple, it's not my problem with whom they outsource the production.
