UDC / SVP ad pop up

Really annoyed that I cannot open EF whithout getting a UDC/SVP ad pop up! Has EF stooped that low to accept advertising from UDC/SVP? Surely not

Why would you expect them to turn away paying customers?

Not just chrome, there's a popular add-on for it and many other browsers, including my first choice Firefox, that blocks adverts. Goto adblock.org for details.

Re: UDC / SVP add pop up

There are add-ons to various web browsers which remove advertising from websites. It is controversial to do this, in that many websites are paid for by advertising.

Without commenting on the ethics involved, a very popular combination for desktop computers is the chrome web browser:
https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/

And the AdblockPlus extension:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...ibdccddilifddb

However, there are many other solutions.

Re: UDC / SVP add pop up

I'm not very computer savvy either.

If you are using Firefox, you can get the AdBlock+ add-on (module in French) from here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefo...dl-mostpopular

If you don't know how to install it or you are using another browser, just google something like:

comment bloquer les pubs intempestives et les fenêtres surgissantes sur mon navigateur et empêcher les maliciels

You can also try this:
http://www.zdnet.fr/telecharger/logi...-39238197s.htm

There are some very good tutorials on Youtube.

J'espère que ça t'aidera un peu et bon courage

Re: UDC / SVP ad pop up

Nobody remembers the Local accepting adverts from that foul anti-homosexual reggae artist a few years ago?

... although on second thoughts, why would the SVP want to advertise to a bunch of English-speaking foreigners?

Re: UDC / SVP ad pop up

i use adblock too, just know that websites don't get the money if the ads are not viewed.
Anyway usually ads are chosen automatically it's not necessarily a direct targeting, you give your ad space to a company like google and they choose what to put based on the content of the website-

The SVP will look like woolly-jumpered CofE vicars once you see what Europe's politics are going to look like in 20 years' time.

Just re-checked. No such adverts. So that it most likely is your provider who accepts the stuff

No, I don't think the ISP has any control over advertising on sites like The Local/ EF, but the ads aren't fixed, so they'll differ each time you see them.

Re: UDC / SVP ad pop up

Checked with EB, and it's not an ad directly placed with EF/The Local. It's just one of the random delights offered up by the ad server.

The silver lining for you is that it'll have cost SVP some money to serve the ad on here with a pretty low likelyhood of winning a vote - yay democracy!

Re: UDC / SVP ad pop up

Well at least it is better than those magazine they force into your letterbox full of lies... which I systematically re-post in an envelope with return to sender, with my comments on the mag in felt tip. My letterbox says 'no advertising'- so why should I have to be forced to receive their ****? Yeah- I know- democracy, right! None of the other parties have the money avaialable to counter their lies... and that is not particularly democratic, for sure.
