Rude Pediatrician [receptionist] in Adliswil

Hello,

This morning I called in my daughter's pediatrician in Adliswil (kinderartz Helen Hauser and Nina Arzet) to change our appointment date for her 4 months check up as we will be away.

From the start of the conversation the lady on the phone kept emphasising how busy they are since dr. Nina is on maternity leave, (dr. Nina was our daughter's pediatrician, a young but very nice dr), in a very rude manner. At first I put up with her rude tone and questions, but then I pointed out her rudeness and that I am changing dr if she can't handle more of dr. Nina's patients. Also I asked to get my daughter's papers sent to the new pediatrician, but she refuses to do so. She clearly said on the phone, "I don't care, I am the chef here. You can change dr's as you wish and I am not sending anything, you have to pick it up!".

I have just made an appointment at sihldoc for kids in sihlcity. They have asked if the old papers can be sent to them.

My questions:
1. Does anybody have experience in changing paediatrician? What sort of documents do we get from the old dr? My daughter had done 1st checkup and 1st vaccinations with the dr in Adliswil.

2. Anybody have experience with dr's in sihldoc for kids in Sihlcity?

3. Anybody knows contacts of dr. Nina Arzet in Adliswil and whether she is working else where?

We have dealt with some rude people here (with the I-don't-care-mentality-as-I-still-have-my-Swiss-salary) but its unfortunate when they are your child's dr. I hope none of you experienced the same.

Thank you!

Re: Rude Pediatrician in Adliswil

Dont you have the booklet you got at the hospital? All relevant data should have been entered there by the doctor. In that case, no need for additional documents.

If as you said she is on maternity leave then I highly doubt she is working somewhere else at the same time!

Re: Rude Pediatrician in Adliswil

Dr Hauser's office is swamped IMHO, She is very popular..

Changing doctors is very easy. Your new doctor (once you have decided on one) can send a request to the old doctor, and they will sort it out, don't stress!

They office staff can give an 'illusion' of being fluent in English, but don't be fooled...so the rudeness may have been enhanced by the language divide...

To choose again, As a working parent I would try to find someone who has longer hours and weekend openings, and a larger team where they have someone else to backup when it gets busy or you need urgent attention.

For emergencies or weekend illness I have been a couple of times to the new 'kinderpermanence' near thr hauptbahnhof in Zurich, at found them to be very efficient and friendly...

Re: Rude Pediatrician in Adliswil

I think the title to this should be altered. The way folk tend to skip through posts on here, retaining just a couple of words, someone might get the idea that the Paediatrician was rude and remember the names you mentioned.
Ask a Mod to do it for you by clicking on the red triangle 'Report Post' top right on the post itself.

Re: Rude Pediatrician in Adliswil

Sorry this happened to you. I can sympathize with the stressed out office manager, but surely she could have handled your request with more grace. I would get in touch with one of the doctors, so they can forward your documents to your new practice.

Re: Rude Pediatrician in Adliswil

Hello Again!

Thanks for your quick responses, I feel much better now :-)

Having worked here with Swiss colleagues for over 5 years, I think I can judge whether the extent to the rudeness was due to a language barrier. If someone was too busy or too stressed, they can simply offer to call me back or explain the situation nicely. And what was with the "I am the boss here, so I can speak with the rude tone" answer? No matter what your position is, you can deal with stressful situation calmly. I'd take it she just had a bad day and I'll forget about it. If someone can't handle a 1 minutes conversation over the phone on changing appointment, how can I trust them with a child which requires more patience. We originally picked the dr from a colleague's recommendation.

I know dr Nina is back from Maternity in Dec, was intending to go back to see her once she's back. Sorry didn't add that on the original post.

I'm happy to read great recommendations on sihldoc for kids. The receptionist didn't speak English but with my pigeon German somehow we managed to find an appointment slot. She was very sympathetic and said that dr's speaks English. It's actually closer to work. It's a win-win solution.

Thank you all again for your helpful responses and I will contact admin to change the subject.
