And you get perfect service tailored to Swiss customers at Amazon.de.

Service such as
- free shipping (from EUR 49 of purchase amount, IIRC)
- complete customs handling
- painless returns
- discount (on top of, most likely, zero tax) on German language books (Germany's "Buchpreisbindung" does not apply to/in Switzerland)

As an aside, amazon.it and amazon.fr share the same benefits for Swiss customers (sans the discount on books, hehe). amazon.co.uk and amazon.es do not offer free shipping.

And please use http://keepa.com/ to not go bonkers on Amazon trying differential pricing on their European platforms. Sometimes it's just mind-boggling (20%).
Well it's not a perfect service because they literally have to ship internationally to deliver the items. Sure waiting is fine, but this thread is about one-day amazon prime shipping which just isn't available in Switzerland. The service that Germans get from amazon.de isn't the same as the service that the Swiss get from amazon.de.

Yeah, but nobody here gives a shit because while the Germans and Brits are distracting themselves from their miserable lives by watching crap telly and films, the Swiss are enjoying their mountains, snow and fleischkäse.

24 hour delivery isn't available if you live in the highlands of Scotland and want something shipped from Manchester either, and that crosses no international borders or has any tax hassle to delay things.

I thought this thread was about not having 24 hour delivery in CH, but you can get it, and I have, many times. 1 electronics firm I mention earlier had 2 items on 24h delivery, I came, the other took 10 days, that was a stock issue, and even walk in the door shops have out of stock issues.

Obviously people do give a shit, hence this thread!

Was it that exciting?

Sure lots of companies ship one day in the UK. As far as I can see there is no Amazon equivalent one stop shop, and it's something that I missed when I was in Switzerland and the OP misses just now. I'm not sure why they are getting so much hate for that

Sad thing is the faster on-line orders turn up the less people buy from stores and in the UK 900,000 jobs are forecast to go in the next 10 years.

Re: I really really miss the one-day delivery online shopping

I lament not being able to order certain specialist items that I can get on Amazon although they wont ship them here to Switzerland, and neither will the manufacturers of said items. And I just can't find them reasonably priced in Switzerland. So if anybody can point me in the direction of an A3 drawing and animation LED light box, for around 60-80 CHF (instead of the 250 - 300 CHF) I would be well happy.

ps. I agree with the OP, internet shopping here sucks, and while I appreciate that money would be better going into the local economy, Switzerland is just pricing itself ridiculously out of the consumer market.

And soon no one will have the cash to buy online anyway, its catch 22.

That would be a 1 as in the number, clearly 24 hour delivery on specticles would be a winner

I don't know about hate as I don't feel a desperate need to click away and ensure the product arrives tomorrow? Just simply I disagree with the statement that somehow 24 hour delivery is not available here, when clearly it is.

Thanks Porsch1909 I appreciate the offer , actually I could easily get someone to do the same, its just that once those additional postage costs are added it'll probably add another 30 quid on, if it isn't also subject to additional import tax and the customs we had to open it and charge you tax.

Well this is awkward...it's clearly an 'I' not a 1 unless you're using Roman Numerals all of a sudden.

It's ok to make mistakes sometimes.

That's actually a good shout. They certainly stock a lot more stuff than when I was in CH (not quite Amazon levels of choice) and have free next day delivery. With Amazon you need to pay for prime to get free next day!

If you buy China produced items, why not buy from China?

And what prevents you from having the product shipped to Germany or any other place where Amazon delivers to and you pick it up there?

Re: I really really miss the one-day delivery online shopping

This thread is sad reading. I normally stay out of these things, but wow the thread on being nice to newbies a few weeks ago really hasn't gone anywhere.

I get annoyed too at the fly-by posters who don't do research, never thank and complain about everything but geez, here the OP is married to a Swiss man, has been in Europe for over a decade, speaks one Swiss language fluently, and is learning another. She is not complaining that CH is terrible- "A land proud of its heritage and tradition (which is good thing)". In fact, I don't think I've seen her truly complain on this forum.

I cannot accept that the only answer to "I miss something in a different country" is "you have not integrated, you are in Switzerland so shut up". You can be integrated and still miss certain things. I believe it's called "nostalgia".

In another thread, I was frankly amazed by how she responded to and actively sought out constructive criticsm and stayed calm even when her thread was being de-railed by certain posters who were doing not much better than dismissing her because of her country of birth's government. But reading through this thread, I'm not surprised that she's lost her patience.
