if the person managed to get into the parking garage, it could very well be one of your neighbours.
Agreed - must be a person connected to a neighbour. If you put a note in everyone's door/letter box and state the car will be towed tomorrow at X time, wonder if the car would be moved on time?

Where are you parking now? Have you got somewhere to put your car?

It seems very unfair that you can not get the car towed away as they could easily be parked there for many weeks to come. Or indeed what is to stop them from using your space again if they feel like it.

Re: Parking

Look up the license plate in the web and if you find who it belongs to it may be resolved easily.

Or call the landlord and ask them to inquire further.

Or have it towed.

Re: Parking

Write in red lipstick on the front windscreen

Dieser parkende Raum reservierte dafür (insert your licence number here).

That should get the message across.

Might be worth getting a plate with your licence number on it that you can stick to the wall to let other drivers know the space is reserved.

Actually happened to me once Ok not the wrong entrance, but the wrong parking space. In my own building. Women, eh? But I realised it a few hours later and moved it. Of course by that time the landlord had already called because the person the space belongs to had complained

However, I cannot for the life of me imagine anyone driving into the wrong private garage that is only accessible with a key, leaving the car there for more than two days and none of the tenants having any idea as to who it might belong to. No one can be THAT far off.

I didn't see before that you had already called the landlord. In that case, call TCS and have it towed.

Please ignore all the "creative" solutions, the law frowns on this. I'm not sure if you said whether the spot is clearly marked as private? Because if it isn't the guy is just an idiot rather than an opportunist. I recommend getting a sign with your number plate and a "privat" sign. If it is marked, then I would charge him for the use of your space, plus costs incurred for you having to park elsewhere.

Why? It's in a garage that is only accessible with a key or so I read it. Not only is it safe to assume that any public garage would come at a cost, it's even more safe to assume that a garage that can only be accessed with a key is a private garage and a private one only. OP has left a note, two days later the car is still there, that's enough. If the owner had returned and it was a genuine (albeit highly unlikely) mistake, he/she would have moved their car long ago. So they're either spiteful or utterly stupid but either way, they've had their chance.

Re: Parking

I tend to be a bit cautious of black mercs but I don't think this one has blacked out windows. Trouble with "creative" solutions is that the guy knows where you park your car. Maybe it's stolen. It's not like it's the weekend so find someone to tow it, or get some jacks or the local rugby team and move it yourself. Or "borrow" the plates and go and do some speeding....

Just put all of your household waste behing it.

A large leaded safe, for example. Bolted to the floor.

Nah, get a wide syringe, fill it with mixed epoxy resin/hardener, and inject it in his door locks. Germans aren't subtle. They need object lessons like rocket barrages from Hawker Typhoons to learn.

Ironically, I have such a device.

3M product, great stuff.

The syringe does the mixing, pump is dual-tube.

Got to replace the syringes each time, however.

Yeah because you can't get into a merc without using the key right.

Re: Parking

As has been said, do make sure the spot is indeed yours. As if it is this guy may have a much bigger problem than a simple fine:

This is a locked underground garage, which makes it part of the building with respect to "Hausfriedensbruch" (essentially, breaking in, see below). After all, as all tenants say they don't know the owner (which seems extremely unlikely to me but that's just my opinion) he logically must be an uninvited outsider, thus somebody without the right to access.

Now, the problem is that you can't tell the car's owner to bugger off as required in the paragraphs 2nd half. But instead you could (should, I guess) try to contact him. So call the "Strassenverkehrsamt Lörrach" and ask for the owners contact data, describing the issue at hand. Take detailed notes of everything you do here, record the call with the owner if you can (make sure to tell right away that you're recording lest the record may be useless, but keep it anyway).

Additionally, get a few neighbors to confirm that the car has been blocking your spot for days, and also that you did ring the doorbells and ask if they know the owner.

And then report him for breaking in. Perhaps the regie or the landlord need to do that instead as your spot isn't lockable by itself, but that should be an easy if necessary at all.

Report him and hope for the best

======

Art. 186 Unlawful entry
Unlawful entry
Any person who, against the will of the lawful occupants enters a building, an apartment, a self-contained room within a building, an enclosed area, courtyard or garden forming a direct part of a building, or a clearly demarcated workplace or, despite requests from the lawful occupants to leave, remains in such a location, is liable on complaint to a custodial sentence not exceeding three years or to a monetary penalty.

Re: Parking

I would be very cautious with damaging the car - as after all they will be able to find you.

You could of course - remove the numberplates and post them back to the registration place in Germany - then call the police saying there is an abandoned car on your parking space.

(Or - if you fancy finding out who it actually is: Remove the numberplates - photograph the car, print out a sign and post in the hallway of the building - saying the car has been illegally parked, the numberplates removed and sent back to Germany - and that you arranging for the car to be removed)

Considering, you rang all the bells now it is time to blow the whistles. Just call the police that there is a possible stollen or abandoned car in your garage. And fill a complaint for trespassing.
