I already gave it away, and bought a replacement for 25 CHF. That lasted a couple of years and when that broke I went all out and actually bought a new one.

not a good idea as we all know that car ads are among the most entertaining threads on this forum
Especially entertaining when the EF regulars delve into who owns the cars and why they are being sold..

Another add is needed here to sell the trousers

If I had 1CHF for every time somebody whinged about not being able to post in the marketplace I'd be retired, lying on a beautiful DRK beach, drinking cocktails and enjoy the company of half a dozen naked beauties.

Is that the democratic republic of Korea?

Re: EF Marketplace posting rant

I used think having 'x' number of post before posting in the market place was a good idea, however over the past couple of years the forum in general is pretty useless, with absolute rubbish being posted on a regular basis.

1 in 30 threads are probably useful to fellow expats these day, therefore remove the rules, the limits on posting don't make sense anymore and let posters post what they want where they want.

The majority of useful posts are old post

Yes, but now this will go into the Name and Blame rant recommended so often...

Oooops, just noticed that this doesn't exist.

OPILexpats has no particular reputation at present
Re: EF Marketplace posting rant

I like the marketplace for its purpose but agree the true mission of English Forum is one for fellow expats to share advice and experience! I've found it incredibly valuable for that and personally am glad that mission is not being diluted. There are plenty of other places (eBay, etc.) that function as a true marketplace for those looking for that... just my two cents... thanks English Forum for being you!

Re: EF Marketplace posting rant

I'm brand new to this forum and just found that I am required to post or comment 10 times and wait a week before I can post a single valid/legitimate apartment rental advert in the Property/Marketplace section!???

I mean, I understand that the forum wants to discourage "spammy-type" posts and encourage "Community interaction", but with this restriction, everyone is then forced to make a bunch of random comments and posts anyway!! All I want to do is post ONE SIMPLE ADVERT, because I am moving away.

I'm sure MANY community members here appreciate the forum Marketplace where they can rent/buy/sell items. The EF forum specifically targets the local community and there really aren't any other avenues to do so that I'm aware of (i.e. I don't think you can post Rental adverts on eBay, Starbucks doesn't allow flyers, I've already tried Migros/COOP...)

Well, same as with your rental contract, it is clearly stated in the rules, so why rant and complain??

The world is an unfair place. Will 8 more complaints and 7 days change all that?

True! But just as everyone here on this forum spends probably HOURS ranting, complaining, and expressing opinions - I have the right to do so as well!!

Can you imagine the kind of sh.t that Forum members would need to read through - not forgetting the spams for penis enhancers and so on (potentially only applicable to a sub-section of the Forum).

Come-on. Think a bit in advance, get your stuff on e-bay or whatever in-time - bring a bit of contribution on your CH experience into this totally free Forum (except of course your soul and signing your life away in blood), or contact the local Brockenhaus to see if they will take your stuff away if that fails (links available on EF).

Like anything else, life does require a bit of foresight.

Re: EF Marketplace posting rant

Why would I want to spend weeks time commenting/posting and reading local Forums if I am moving away across the world?!!

And as far as my "complaint comment" At least it was thoughtful. I mean, there is an HUGE ENTIRE THREAD on COMPLAINTS HERE! Even a "Micro-Rant thread!!!" I've never seen so much negativity in my life

From the brief amount of browsing I've done thus far on EF - It seems this forum is chalk FULL of Trolls, Ranters, Complainers and Whingers that must have a Hell of a lot of time on their hands to post inane comments and bash people for a simple question or expression of personal opinion.
