My darling Nil, god only knows! You're a gorgeous girl with a heart of gold. I'm a gobby mare from a town where people would have been head butted by now :-D Nobody else's opinion matters in the great scheme of things. We both know who we are.

Of course, not forgetting a general agreement that everything is far better "back home" and lots of mutual back slapping for everyone agreeing with each other and not challenging each others opinions.

.
It describes the forum pretty well, especially the second part.

Huh!?! Brexit and Trump threads being fine examples to the contrary.

I'm en route 'back home' now and dreading it.. After 48hrs, I'll be dying to come back to Switzerland. Home is where the heart is, so for me, it's where my OH and errant cat are.

Hang fire on that kid, you might be misinterpreting a mere typo, which is a vacuously different thing from a spelling error.

You wouldn't want to mistake the trivial for the serious.

Brexit thread got trolled by the same characters who seem to believe, mind, believe they should always have the upper hand; Trump was more debated - true. But that's because there were different posters.

Same for all of us, blue angel. And as you said, in the grand scheme of things these opinions we read or write on EF don't even count.

There is a reason why I said it but I mostly said it to ruffle your feathers. In fact most of my replies to others were also aimed at ruffling feathers. You are actually not annoying like the others so I will make my peace with you. But please do not pander to the other lot, stay cool.

Don't pander to me Nil. On the one hand it won't get you anywhere, and on the other you might pick up some bad spelling habits.

Re: 9 months in Switzerland - a honest report.

to the one who called me a racist, because of me calling an auslander, an auslander;

1. If an auslander is a racist word, then switzerland is officially racist. Why? Just read it from your work permit and you'll get answers, it's all there - it clearly says what the document is about and what is your title in switzerland : "Auslanderausweis". That's right, an Auslander. And every non-swiss has this cheesy purple book. Fortunately, one can not read this cheesy title from MY work permit, because I cut it out and replaced with with good ol 'work permit' title, as it's called in civilized world.

But if you still aren't sure what is your real name here, take that purple book with you on toilette (no, don't try to use it there, although this is what auslanders were doing initially, untill the swiss government introduced plastic covers), then step in front of the mirror, open the book, look at the photo in it and then look at your face. Then read the famous title: A-U-S-L-A-N-D-E-R. You should get you revelation at that point, if not, repeat the process.

2. I always hear somebody calling me auslander on weekly basis, so I guess this is normal here. Maybe we should start calling them inlanders.

Let me tell you a story.I recall my first weeks in CH as I had to obtain the work permit in that Gebunde, or Gemainde (or was it Gemunde?) or sth similar sounding, which after a good look resembled to guestabo headquarters a bit (there were some red carpets on the walls, which looked like they had some suspicious signatures removed from them). Nevertheless, my first impression was really nice - I was waiting there in a line of mixed nationalities and races. One could see asians, blacks, slavs, indians...it felt very good to join in all that diversity, so I said to myself 'Hell, this must be a better place than Canada! To my dissapoitment, weeks later I found that I couldn't be more wrong. Anyways, the more time I spent in that room, the more atmosphere felt creepy creepy. The staff were giving some odd looks the all that people like we're all prisoners and some guy in front of me was playing with his hands like not sure if he was praying. And there was a guy in the corner who overwatched the situation - either he was selling sth or he was an undercover police. It became so creepy, that I felt like standing in a line, like from that schindler list movie (just for your information - there is a swiss company called Schindler and they make lifts. This is some dirty stuff, I tell you. Who knows what they were lifting during WW2). So, it was finally my turn in a line, after a couple in front of me left the room from what it looked a dissapointement, as they were rejected of something. Then the dude behind the desk greeted me and said 'welcome to Zurch', but his face was saying some other thing. Not sure what that was. I was doing some paperwork and then he gave me the little purple book. I grabbed and and had a look at it.It looked funny, because it was purple and it looked in between of handicapped gay sharrif badge and a bicycle driving license, plus it had a letter 'L' in the corner, which reminded me on Looser. 'What is this shit?' I tought and ' thank you switzerland', is what I said. But as I wanted to show high level of willingness to integrate, I practised my german by loudly reading everything that it was written on the front page. So there I went, I broke down the word into smaller words and read laudly: AUSLANDER-AUS-WEIS. At that moment for some reason, the guy behind the desk blushed and his face got the color of the little purple book and the girl next to him started to gave off very uncomfortable vibe. Since I knew that I fuc*ed up sth, but didn't know what, I assumed that they laughed to my russian accent . Trying to improve my accent and sounding more german, I reread the sentence as: "AUSLANDER-RAUS-WIES", and that damn extra 'r' in it. This time people start silently laugh, and some black dude from the end of the line had a hard time to stop himself from cracking. The swiss guy lost it too, while some old hog in the corner did something what it looked like leaving the room.

No, it's because you're Russian.

All the Dutch, Greeks and Senegalese can edit their posts without any problems.

But Russians get special treatment because of all the flavours of ice cream they had in the eighties. Envy begets loss of editing rights, and rightly so.
