Airline Lost Baby Stroller

I came back from an vacation in Dubai by Emirates Airlines in mid May, during our return trip the airline lost the baby stroller, then after a month of search they declared it as lost. Now they say that they will pay 50% of the cost of stroller. which is very less..the stroller i bought last year and i do not have the purchase receipt. how to get the full price of the stroller? are there any tips? does anyone undergone same situation?

any inputs will be highly appreciated..

You probably won't get the full price without the receipt, but you should get 75%. May have to buy a replacement first and then claim.Talk to your insurance company. LTU snapped the handle on our pram on the outward leg a couple of years ago. Bought a better pram as a replacement.

Re: Airline Lost Baby Stroller

I have just moved to Basel and came in by Emirates. Same issue we had as well.

They lost the baby stroller and after a week were able to locate it. When it arrived the wheels were missing, the hood was gone and the handles broken .

So no stroller in a new country - it was very difficult.

On top of this - they expected me to drag that broken stroller and try and get it repaired, but no chances of any reimbursement for any local taxi or anything... Only if the store refuses to repair or gives a letter saying not possible will they reimburse.

Again they want a receipt (I bought the stroller 6-8 months back) but dont have a receipt now. On top of that they are saying the same - only 50% of the cost...grrr...

my reasoning with them was - I dont want any money, give me a similar stroller in a similarly new condition.

if anyone knows how to deal with them I would be interested too

Write to Emirates consumer relations department. These days the cpmpetition between airlines is so tight and they will do all possible to keep customers.
Are you a frequest flyer with emirates? if yes, it will make a big difference and do not forget to mention it in your letter.
Their contact detail should be in their website.

Complain until you are blue in the face. I know its a complete pain in the backside but they owe you money.

My boyfriend had his guitar broken by BA when he moved here. The managed to break though a solid case with 3 fragile stickers on it, and crack the body of the guitar. He started with the usual process which got him no where. He escalated the issue, and got a written estimate for the replacement. Eventually BA stumped up the cash for the full amount (after cheekily trying to offer half).

Remember to be polit at all times. If you are communicating via email then keep all of them, and if by phone keep a record of all times, dates, and the person you spoke to. If you have to take things higher then all this info comes in handy, and they know you are not messing around.

I really hope you get the cash for your stroller.

Re: Airline Lost Baby Stroller

The definition of a ticket in airline language is that "a ticket is a written contract between airline and the passenger".
In that contract you, as the passenger, have certain rights. See your rights in the below site for damaged baggage.
Thesr are IATA regulations and airlines MUST complay with them.

Right, according to the Warsaw Convention the limit is USD 20 per kg. Strollers are generally made to be as light as possible, so the 20 USD per kg may not get you that far.....

Re: Airline Lost Baby Stroller

Maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but it might be useful for others cases like this:

Swiss lost a beach umbrella a few years ago.
It was nothing special, just a useful practical item.

I waited 3 days, went to the Airport and said

"Look, we both know it's not turning up - Barca obviously didn't load it. What have you got round the back?"

She (Swissport Agent) let me into their Storage room (Arrivals 1) where there was a treasure trove of EVERYTHING inkl. Buggies, Umbrellas, tents, rucksacks etc. All "untagged". No baggage tag, no name.

I helped myself to a brand new Beach Umbrella.
I said "Ta very much, just close the file, that's great"

Et Voila...
