| She indicated the official route for my direction of travel, which first involves crossing the main road between two pedestrian crossings, then a tram line - fine for now - then it goes right between the tram stop and several pillars.
As cyclists may be aware, this is especially dangerous when a tram is approaching the stop, since you cannot predict who will run across your path from behind the pillars.
Obviously one has to cycle very slowly here, but what is wrong with cycling in the big wide open space that is the Messeplatz? Surely this is safer to the pedestrians? On many occasions you see children running around these pillars while the parents wait for a tram; I'm afraid one day someone might get hit. | |

While I can see you concern for this area and the problematic structures around, I cycled though this exact route you described for nearly 6 years every work day without a problem - never once hitting or nearly hitting anyone. Note - This cycle way is also closed if there is a fair on when there are many people around.
Best to just take care.
