I am stuck in Google hell, trying to do a search for directions and the only language options it is giving me is German, French, Italian and Romansch. All, I want is simple English, I don't feel like trying to read German today.

I have been wasting way too muchh time trying to get English, very frustrating. Agghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. If only I could read Romansch better....

Did you perhaps go to maps section via google.ch as opposed to google.co.uk ??

On second thoughts, maybe Ze Devils Advocate can help you with the Google Hell part. He certainly knows how to get there, whether he knows hot to get out is another issue!

Why don't you use Google.com instead of Google.ch?

Also, have you changed your language settings?

Now that's an issue that annoys the h3ll out of me. My computer at work always redirects to google.ch when I type in google.com..! Changing preferences to English only helps as long as I'm online, next day it's back to German and .ch

This is exactly my problem, no matter what I do it keeps sending me back to Google.CH

I will try, they couldn't do something sensible and just put another link to English on the googlemaps.ch site.could they.....Google is a company not a country, I don't having an English link would upset the customers.would it.

Then type in GOOGLE.CO.UK like i already suggested before.......(you really should not listen to an Arsenal supporter.....lol)

This seems to work.....

I don't delete cookies, in fact when I log off up pops a window showing the cookies are being saved (which is annoying in itself)..! I'll try the bookmark on Monday when I'm back at work.

brings you to the generic international Google website. This is what I do to stop the .ch redirect.

NCR= No Country Region

Try this:

http://maps.google.com/?hl=en to open Google maps in english

http://maps.google.com/?hl=es to open it in Spanish

And so on for other languages (fr for french etc...)

Would someone know how to do the NCR idea on the Google quick search line on FireFox? Rather than calling up the Google page then doing the search, I use the little line/slot on the right hand side of the tab line. I always end up with Google CH but in German and I can't seem to get this to default into English or French. I am using FF3.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

1. Go to: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/

2. Choose the search plugin you wish to use (Google is number2)

3. Choose exactly which google you wish to install in the search bar

4. Click Add

5. Go to: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/...search_engines
and follow the directions on how to manage your search bar
