I am not happy at all more like ****ed off sorry, but winter makes my kids ill 2 weeks ago my kids had the flu high temps (my daughters at the highest was 40.9 ) shivering but red hot like on fire e.t.c. they both went back to school and KG on monday, and now my daughter as a fever of 39.8 i have given her meds, and sponged her down. (She spent more time at home or in hospital last year being ill).
Please anyone any advice how to stop my kids being ill, i give them vitamins they eat fruit and veg.

Sorry for going on but i am pulling my hair out here

You have my sympathy.
As for the teachers - they can tell your kids off but if you want to drive them when they've been repeatedly ill then one would have thought that is your responsible business as a caring parent and certainly of no genuine concern of the camp commandant.

Oh shame Sutter that is really horrible.
I don't have any advise but am wondering what gives the teacher the right to dictate whether you drive or walk to school .
Hope the little ones get better soon.

well, if it makes you feel any better we have chicken-pox, scarlet fever (scarletina/strep throat) AND a nasty flu with stomach symptoms going round school this week - and my husband's a teacher so if the kids don't bring it home, he will ...that and the staff having to clean up vomit, and send 3-4 kids home each day (they do feel sorry when they have to call parents our of work etc and justify it too !)...
watch out for strep throat - it's a bacteria, not a virus, and requires the right antibiotics...

There's been a very virulent flu epidemic in Europe this winter probably because the winter is very cold.

oh yeah, they do get sick less often after age 6, I promise
and one thin you can do to cut down the exposure is to teach/encourage reasonable handwashing with soap and water - it does help...

Well i stopped driving her and look what happened, i have told my husband i will drive her, but he argues saying she as to walk

nothing to do with being cold, just that these viruses come in waves - they were predicting the flu epidemic in July when we mover over here...before they predicted the weather...flu season coincides with dryer air, more people staying indoors together to share their bugs around... | Quote: | | | | | There's been a very virulent flu epidemic in Europe this winter probably because the winter is very cold. | | | | | |

usually you are contagious for a day or two before the symptoms arrive - so by the time you know the kid is sick, he/she has already had the opportunity to pass it on to every other kid in the class (and the adults too!)...

some kids are more 'prone' than others to being sick...
My middle one is prone to croup - he seems to have narrower airways than his sister...not sure if it's also worth getting a child with repeated croup checked for asthma - my friend's daughter had asthma and she changed doctors, got a much better asthma management plan (and better medication procedures) and was much better - a lot of her post-viral illness was asthma rather than the cold/flu itself...but it's really hard to rest/sleep when your breathing is *crappy*....

Well, I guess for people not used to the cold, you could consider this winter in Switzerland 'cold'. But most of the time, Im not even wearing my winter jacket. In fact, I left my winter jacket in Canada cause frankly I don't really need it here.
Let me know when you've lived through winters with -30C or -40C with windchill. I have practically my whole life.
And I never really got all that sick as a child during the winters. I think a lot of it has to do with proper hand washing and not touching your face or mouth after you've touched public door handles, etc.

This winter I am feeling better, but still having to fight it.
I just hope my body develops quick the means to resist it as it looks like I'll stay in Zürich for a looooooooong time.

Some people are unfortunately just prone to getting sick.. I was sick all winter every winter and not because I was not used to the cold... Every winter without fail I had a chest infection and tonsilites and every flu...
Eventually I grew out of it, although I still have a rather "sensitive disposition"
