Swiss parking

Did anyone else notice the strange herding instinct of the swiss car parker?

Cut to scene....
... near empty car park, so you park nicely on your own to avoid the dings that seem oh so inevitable here
... come back later, two other cars arrived meanwhile and one is in the space to your left and the other the one to the right
... rest of car park still empty
... fade to black.

And parked impossibly close to your car on at least one side.

Re: Swiss parking

Worse than that - much worse. I regularly go to a gym. The changing rooms have tall narrow lockers and we leave our shoes on the floor below, so you can see which are in use.

You can bet in a near empty gym, having selected a locker well away from anyone else, when I come back some tosh is using the locker next to mine - sometimes both sides...

Abfab... maybe that's another reason for wanting to get closer!

OK so that sounds like its conclusively proved.

Who's got a take on root cause:

- parkagoraphobia
- a nice ordered mind
- mutated genes?

Re: Swiss parking

I sometimes park on two spots in a far corner of the car park. Yet I always find someone parked right next to me when I come back to my car.
And if I JUST park on the divider line (thinking that's enough to stop ppl from parking next to me but still not so cocky) someone will just squeeze in! Rule: if there is physical space for a car (doors closed) someone WILL PARK there.

Sick of getting my doors repaired all the time!

Re: Swiss parking

Works with Vespas and bicycles too: come back an hour later and there's a whole gaggle of bikes next to yours. Weird.

Re: Swiss parking

Its because you are parking in the "right" place. Avoid standing out. They must know something you don't....usw...

Re: Swiss parking

Where do you all manage to find these empty car parks? My usual routine is driving round in circles for 10 minutes to try to find the one remaining space....

Re: Swiss parking

I just don't go to the wrong places at wrong times.
Like, try to avoid driving to Zurich, ever.

Glattzentrum is a good place to park. May the force be with them to avoid having to charge for it! (I happen to know they will start soon - they have to)

Dietlikon stores is another good example.

Generally speaking, stay in the suburbs with your car. You may even get a chance to drive sometimes!
