| | | The bloody cheek of it
I had plans to go out this afternoon, before going out my little boy was playing with his friend outside, when suddenly my son came to me and said his friend had to stay here with us because his mummy had gone out . The boys mum did not even ring me to tell me she was going out, ar ask if it was ok that i babysit her son while she goes out . I rang her at home, but she is not there, and i don`t know her mobile telephone no to ring her. I can`t go out and leave this little boy on his own (he his only 5 yrs old) he doesn`t have a key to go home if he his thirsty, or hungry. I have already given him drinks and food, and seeing it is so hot outside i am thinking he will thirsty again soon.
What should i do, i have things i need to do

Go out taking your son and his little mate with you. When little mate's mum comes to pick him up it'll teach her a lesson she won't forget when she finds you all gone and no idea whether little mate is with you or not.
You should just nonchalantly tell her that you absolutely had to go out this afternoon and, as she left her son with you unannounced and left no contact numbers you had no option but to go.
Cheek of the woman!
EDIT: then again, you don't know if your little precious told the lady that "it'll all be fine - mummy says it's okay..." so perhaps interrogate your son first

hmmmm, Sutter, you have been given the "Arschkarte" so to speak... take them both with you - have you got two kids seats? Hope so, then give her a right telling off when she gets home and an invoice for your hours of involuntary babysitting. What a cheeky woman eh?

Take the little boy to the Gemeinde/Police and report him as abandoned, which he is.
When his mother comes back, tell her to collect her boy from there.
She won't do that you again in a hurry, I suspect. She'd be on their list.
I feel very sorry for the little boy though.

Have a lovely afternoon in the sunshine | | | | | But leave a message on your door for her........
Sure she has has taken liberties, but you don't want to be talking to the polizei if she franticly reports a missing child.

Have a lovely afternoon in the sunshine | | | | | Thank goodness for the Internet, eh, Sutter? I wonder how our mothers and grandmothers ever coped with such problems.
I'd consider leaving a note to be entirely optional, in the circumstances - and I don't think you need worry about the police: I'm trying very hard to imagine a Swiss mother (is she Swiss?) frantically reporting a missing child after anything less than 7 hours. | | The following 4 users would like to thank MathNut for this useful post: | |

I'd get off the internet and take care of the kid before he runs off looking for his mom!

What is the usual practice - this type of leaving the boy may have
happened many a times without your knowledge, as you did not
have the occasion to go out in between her return?
Taking the boy with you without specific permission may be a form of "kidnapping". The procedure would be to take the boy out informing
the Police that you are doing so under the circumstances - this way
it will be a mild warning by the Police to the mother I think.

Ok update i only went to the local shop in the end (he was a nightmare running around out of control i was so embarrassed ) came home i couldn`t go through that again in another shop and his mum was still not home.
He was thirsty and i gave him another drink (i am not a cruel person )
His Mother is now home, but her German is not very good (still no excuse she could tell me in German she was going out no problem), so i will wait until his Father comes home tonight and ring to sort this out.
Being a Mother myself i cannot understand how she could do this she as my home phone no. so she could of rang me, or knocked on my door (she lives about 3 mins walk from me) I would never dream of going out and leaving my kids home alone without asking someone to watch them for me.

Are you sure mum's not just doing a load of washing or taking stuff out to her car ?
Otherwise, I'd leave a note on her door - did you go over and ring her doorbell ? |
