I'm going to throw this Schabziger "cheese" into the trash unless somebody can persuade me otherwise. For two years, I had gotten used to Swiss cheese and liked it until I finally realised that nearly every one of them was just a flavour of salted butter. Then, finally, somebody proudly boasted of this "Schabziger cheese" and warned that it was a flavour "only for professionals". Now, I am no stranger to cheese tastes -- cheese grading runs in my family -- but I consider this to be the worst case of cheese ever inflicted upon the Earth. The cheese is tasteless, crumbly and dry but loaded with the taste of blue fenugreek in order to give it a taste like genuine Gorgonzola. It falls as short as being a cheese as Scientology does being a religion. This carton sits in front of me now and I comtemplate throwing it in the trash where I think it belongs unless some of you taste aficionados know of a better solution.

Google says: "Schabziger cheese" is made of skimmed milk and is ideal for grating, spreading and seasoning ... looks like it'll take a while before you can finish it

In the trash went the last one I bought a couple of weeks ago. It is just not something made for humans to eat !!!

yes, sorry to say I did commit that sin cannut but I just could not eat it and the smell, OMG, that smell !!!
I think it might be helpful to wake up someone in a coma or someone who has passed out, but to eat it ... no way !!!

I'd recommend St Augur (the wedge with the blue-green bits) - tasty. Not sure if I want to try Schabziger though.

That stuff ruined a good spaghetti bolognaise, although I think that was discussed already on another thread.. anyway, I love smelly cheeses, the smellier the better, but that stuff cannot be cheese,, smells and tastes of puke... literally....

Yes it's dry. This is because you grind it (like parmesan). There's a mill for that but I've never used this. I mix it with butter and spread it on bread. The much simpler alternative is to buy premade Schabziger butter.

So you don't like Schabziger (I'm not surprised) and every other swiss cheese (I am surprised). Please buy british cheese or french cheese or whatever you like hence problem solved or is anyone forcing you to eat this?
