I would like to complain about a programme I've just seen on BBC3 - "Baby Beauty Queens".

Good grief, what a sicko world we live in, where Mothers will put their poor daughters through hell, just to win a pathetic "beauty" pageant.
6, 7+ year olds. get plucked eyebrows, spray tans and false nails and it is so obvious that the kids hate every minute of it.
One little girl was hauled up onto the stage at the "church" where the family worshipped and asked why she was entering this super competition.
She said she didn't know why.
Her Mum did, of course.
Then they all prayed for her to win!!

The Mothers push and push their kids to the limit, to achieve maybe what they would have liked to??

My heart goes out to these children. As the BBC comments said, a surreal and disturbing snapshot of modern Britain.

Ugh, I couldn't bring myself to watch that. They have been going on for quite a while in America, very very sad indeed. Making the little kids look like, well, prostitutes.

Bloody hell it is just like in the USA i feel sorry for the kids i have watched many programmes about these things, and it is mostly the mothers that push the kids into doing these things

Yes, I wish I hadn't watched it either!
It's enough to give you nightmares just to know this goes on.....

I didn't watch this so am commenting on my general opinion.

Beauty contests are often complained about as exploitation of women. At least, in 'normal' beauty contests, the women are old enough to understand what they are doing.

Beauty contests for young girls are definitely wrong in my mind. It seems even more strange that they are very often pushed into them by women.

Awful.

Kids should be left to be kids and not fulfill their parent's lost dreams.

Those pictures are really upsetting.

Oh, wow. I had no idea this sort of thing was happening outside the US.

I'm always shocked beyond belief at how these little girls are paraded around dressed like showgirls and wearing more make up than a transvestite. What a world.

I read about this case before but my blood still ran cold when I watched Sutter's YouTube link. Such a tragedy and its so scary that the killer is still not caught till today.

I remember when she was killed i was so upset, and it was on the news a few years ago again trying to find her murderer, but it was a false lead. I hope they will find her killer 1 day, the ******* deserves to be punished
