Did anyone lose their luggage in the Heathrow debacle during Christmas 06.

If yes, have you managed to get any compensation from BA, and if yes, how did you manage it.

It seems in the last few years BA have downgraded themself to a budget airline to compete with the likes of Easyjet. In my 20 years of travelling I never lost a bag for more than a day with an airline, and for approx GBP 800 worth of stuff on a short trip did not take out the travel insurance.

I would be interested to hear your stories if there are any, and if any of you would be interested in pursuing a group claim against BA to obtain the compensation they promise on their website, however make it impossible to achieve as they sacked all their staff who would handle such matters.

I didn't lose any luggage in Dec 06 but I know some people whose son did.

I don't know how they did it, but they managed to get

1) BA to pay for clothing while he was here at Xmas
2) BA to pay for the lost Christmas presents
3) They got compensation for the lost luggage in January when BA admitted they had no idea where the bag was.

I'll ask them over the weekend what they did and try and post here next week

THanks alot for your post. I would be interested in contact name, address and or telephone numbers with BA. I have gone through all the channels and the problem is they said they would pay me, and that it would take four weeks to settle the sterling payment. I have heard and received nothing and they are not responding to my emails. I was thinking of taking a trip to London and going to an office to talk to them with all my paperwork, but I would need to know the premises. None of the Customer service people in the airports are able to deal with the matter beyond the compensation I received at local level. I never told you this but call 0208 476 0920 these people are called the excutive assistanta and they are customer service for high net individuals. They handle correspondence that Willie Walsh gets.

I faxed willies private fax and one of them called me. Got a free flight from Australia to Rio via london return.
