This might be as well in the Jokes thread, yet maybe someone has a constructive suggestion about the following:
After 6 months of random usage, my Compaq Mini netbook started to work funny: did not want to boot pass the Compaq welcome screen nor enter the boot menu. Though, if persisting, on 7~9th attempt it booted and performed just fine!
Since it was still on warranty I sent it in for repairs to the authorized HP Dealer in Switzerland. 10 days later I receive a bill, stating that the item is either off warranty or it has been subjected to unauthorized manipulations, thus not covered by warranty.
So, for a product of hardly
350 CHF acquisition price, I now have the following options:
1) Pay
806 CHF for repair;
2) Pay 80 CHF for recycling;

3) Pay 100 CHF to have it sent back to me.
I called in and they said they've traced liquid spots on the MB thus it's not under warranty. Of course I can't remember any liquids nearby my netbook, except the spray for cleaning the screen and keyboard [all in all - a useless discussion with the service]...
Does anyone know a magic word that would get my netbook repaired under the warranty, or at least for not having to pay for the recycling whatever? Or is it a doomed case?
