I looked around other posts but couldn't come up with anything, so knowing that this is a bit like 'how long is a piece of string' could somebody tell me 'what is it like to live in Baden?'

If you are living there now, is it generally ok? would you move there again or are you looking to move away?

I'm thinking of moving but staying within easy reach of Zurich. I lived in Zurich (was ok) but moved to Affoltern am Albis (too small) and my wife already lived in Zug (too expensive) and doesn't want to move back there. I visited Baden a few times and it seems ok.....

Any comments welcome

Been in Baden for a few years - had nothing but pleasant experiences:

good education system.

compact city center which is easy to reach with public transport & cheap to park (compared to Zurich). good connections with SBB

helpful city bureaucracy.

nature on your doorstep.

I agree with Pashosh.
I've only been here since the end of October but have found the Stadthaus people very friendly and helpful, the town nice and compact, but still has everything you might need, there are good restaurants and cafes of different cuisine, the commute to Zurich easy and the thermal bath is a must!
We are however moving at some point (as we're subletting here and can't extend), but hoping to stay in the area so Baden will still be reachable for weekends!

My partner and I are loving living in Baden. However, if I were single I would not want to live here. Baden doesn't exactly pump on a friday night. Although there is a decent casino here (go figure!) that's open til the wee hours most nights. Plenty of expats here also.......Alstom and ABB employ most of them.
Great mountain biking, walking and running in and around Baden. Easy to get around, friendly folk, beautiful town, great public pools and thermal baths.
Only 15-20 mins to Zurich to meet people for a proper drink or a nice meal.

It's great. Good social life and all that.

I have lived and worked in the Baden region for years. If you have children, you might find living in a village outside Baden to be more to your liking. For couples, many really enjoy living in Baden. Given the name of my firm, I am a bit biased.

whaaaaa... oh the temptation of groaning!

When I first moved to Baden I was working in Zurich, and used to work late then go direct into Zurich centre for a night out. I did have to watch the time of the last train home though; there were no night buses then.

I advise not living bang in the centre as it can get ridiculously noisy with late night party goers. As ever, watch the bells - I was recycling some bottles and cans the other evening when the church bells went off right above me and they were unbelievably loud. I definitely wouldn't want to live in their direct line of fire.

OK I'm curious now, and I try to limit myself to 10 googles a day. What is the name of your firm?
