I always thought that an Anglican was a Catholic just without the commitment. Sort of Christianity Zero - all the flavor of Catholism but with zero guilt.
The biggest difference is that Anglicans don't believe in transubstantiation.

I'm disgusted with myself for even knowing that without looking it up on Google.

Or is that Methodists?
I grew up in Methodist country. They gave up everything every Sunday. No ice-cream for the children. No horse riding. Not much to do at all. The men didn`t stop smoking their pipes tho`.

Anglicans are the same as Catholics except the belief in God is optional.

Methodists are the same as Anglicans except all the other stuff is optional too.

I`m not so sure about that even though I have given it up for Lent just to be on the safe side.

You can play religious Top Trumps to help you work out the 'better' religions:
Freakin' genius! Where can I buy these?

In my family, we have Roman Catholics (including a priest and two nuns), Greek Orthodox, Anglican (including a retired female vicar), Jewish, Muslim, Methodist, Agnostic and Atheist.

Just need a satanist and Buddhist and we'll have a nearly a full set.

I need about 30 sets of these Top Trumps as stocking fillers

My grandparents generation argued so much about religion, that my parents generation, and everyone of us since, never raises the subject at family gatherings. Everybody knows what each other is, and we get along just fine.

You do know you have to send in a written form for you to stop paying, otherwise I'm afraid you will still have -1% income.

Only 1%? Not if you're Catholic. It's all that Baroque art, I reckon.

In Basel it used to be 8% of the kantonalen Einkommenssteuer for the Christians and 12% for the Israelitische Gemeinde. I doubt if it has changed much. You pay your money and take your choice.

I can donate a Quaker and a Mormon to your mix. Note - donate, not lend. I don't want them back thanks (nothing to do with their religious choices though!!)

Thanks but no thanks.

The family across the road from my house in the UK are Mormon. The dad used to train guys from America when they come to the UK to 'spread the word'. He always used to send them to me as a test... Git! But I found the ultimate shutdown is to tell them I'm a militant Jewish lesbian. Always sent them running back to base.
