I was just wondering what young people do in Switzerland in their free time? I am 23 and soon be moving to zurich?

What do young people do in Leicester?

nothing much to do in Leicester thats why I moved to London plenty to do there

Do as all the other Swiss do - go to bed at 9.00, to be up for 5.00, so you can work a 12 hr. day, to make enough money, to be able to afford to survive here.

And what do you do there?

Swear at Swedes.

Go paragliding ! Opportunities here are endless.

Leicester by night ain't for the faint hearted (Hi jasmin, I lived in Leics for a very long time- maybe I even taught you? LOL- hope you enjoy Switzerland).

They drink loads red bull, smoke lots of cigarettes and say "shit alot"

A lot of people your age seem to frequent the bars and clubs in downtown Zurich on the weekends. And during the summer, a lot them hang out along the Limmat river or Lake Zurich and swim, play volleyball, etc.

But most stores and malls do close quite early here (almost nothing is open past 8:00 pm during the week and 6:00 pm on Saturdays). So late-night shopping is pretty much impossible, as is Sunday shopping.

Despite the banter going on here, Zürich has quite a selection of bars and clubs, ranging from (pseudo) posh clubs like Kaufleuten to alternative places like Rote Fabrik etc.

During summer, there is also a wide range of festivals (not necessarily in Zürich, but Switzerland is not that big).

During winter many people go to the mountains for skiing or snowboarding.

If you don't find anything to do, you're doing it "worng".


What a sad idea: No 23 year old would even consider shopping on a Saturday evening. How sad is that.

OP you will have a great time here. In zurich there is always a party happening, plenty of night life. If you are into the outdoors it's now summer so there is loads of stuff to do, biking, climbing, hiking, sailing, water rafting etc etc... If you do move into that WG it will be a good way for you to meet new people and is probably a good idea for a young person to do that first.

What are your interests? you said in a previous thread that you've had a very busy 4 years in London, I bet when you settle in here especially if you decide Zurich then you can equally have a pretty busy life here. Switzerland is though a more relaxing place than the UK so it will be a lot different to living in London.

There's lots going on here, especially in Zurich but just don't expect the same vibe. There is one alright, it's just different.
