I assume regular hiking, grill by the lake or bicycle riding is not what you're looking for. I have some favourite places my children love:
1) Trampolino is an fun, cheap place (CHF14 for kids, CHF7 for adults) where they can burn a lot of energy jumping and running around. It's indoors (thus impervious to the current weather) and close to you (in Dietikon).
2) Technorama is a super cool science, interactive, modern museum designed for children. A bit more pricey (CHF14 for children but CHF25 for adults) but a total must if you don't mind the price. Also very close to Züri.
3) Alpamare offers the coolest idea for this lousy weather days: indoor surf lessons ! If it's a nice day, then you can just use the regular facilities. The most pricey place in the list, but lots of fun.

The outside area is open year round. It has a small play area and nice

from about the middle of March until November. http://www3.stzh.ch/internet/gsz/hom...urzentrum.html
Park Im Grüene - Rüschlikon

swimming pool, cafeteria... http://www.parkimgruene.ch
Jucker Farm - Seegräben
They have a cafe, petting zoo, a store selling fresh produce
and homemade food, and a playground. http://www.juckerfarmart.ch
Waldhaus Katzensee - Zurich
The perfect family restaurant with a collection of 1-franc
rides out front, a small train to ride, and a playground - all
within view of an outdoor eating area. http://www.waldhaus-katzensee.ch
Recently heard about an article with 99 things to do in Switzerland. Descriptions are in German, but you can at least figure out the name of the place and do a little googling if your German isn't up to snuff.
There is a nice small zoo in Goldau. You won't see exotic animals, but they do have bears and wolves and a lot of Swiss/alp animals. Some run around free and you can feed them too. Even my teenagers still enjoy going there.
