Re: My oven door just exploded!! WTF!!!

I worked long times in the bar, but I do think personal consumption is well over 100

I have had several bottles simply break in half when you touched them.

I never heard of that though-

So, cold "safety glass" blowing to pieces from an oven doesn't cause injuries?
No, hence the name "safety glass".

Why would people be leaning on your oven door?
My flatmate leans against pretty much anything when he talks to you, including the oven. Will have to tell him to lean 60 cm further along, don't fancy replacing the oven due to explosion!

The oven is at chest height. And you know what they say about people always being in the kitchen at parties.

Wow, glad no one was hurt! I had no idea such a thing was possible...

But now I'm going to be paranoid above mine exploding.

(Where's my bubble suit???)

Safety galss is safe because it doesn't break into great dagger like shards.

A face full from an exploding oven is unlikely to be pleasant.

It can still cut too, just ask this guy

Must have been all the Bulles in it

I once made ginger beer and used normal glass botlles, about 12 of them! Never again.

It must have been very scary - and I would be very interested to hear what Siemens have to say about it. Have you called them yet?
Just done a 'Google' and it seems you are not the only one, have a look. BTW Siemens is now part of the same group as Neff, Bosch and Gaggenau.

Re: My oven door just exploded!! WTF!!!

My workplace replaced all glass water bottles with plastic about two years ago as they were randomly exploding. When the email first came out, we were even asked to go find our workmates that didn't have email access and warn them not to touch the bottles.

Re: My oven door just exploded!! WTF!!!

All I can say is it has happened to me, it was an almost brand new oven.

1st time I've heard of it happening to someone else. Kinda reassuring in a weird kind of way.

Glass exploding in that way isn't all that rare, unfortunately. I've never had an oven door do it, but I had a glass cooking dish sitting next to the sink that went off once - middle of a party, literally everyone was in the next room and about 5 or 6 people happened to be looking in that direction as it happened. Made for a great party story (same party, I stepped through the coffee table and then threw it out the window, but for totally different reasons). A few years later, I had a light bulb explode while my girlfriend at the time and I were in the other room, um, busy. With 4 meter vaulted ceilings and no light, it took a little while to figure out what interrupted us!

Did you know that Sophie Taeuber-Arp, who features on the Fr 50.- note, was killed by an exploding oven?

Check / make sure you observe the distances/clearances and ventilation opening sizes in the installation manual. I had a visit from a Siemens technician who said mine didn't comply.

My partner just called me with the news that the glass oven door just exploded showering glass fragments all over the room!!
It was cold (we used it last night) and went off with a loud bang. What´s more the fragments of glass on the ceramic tiles floor were jumping around like jumping beans and crackling.
It it just as well the dogs were not walking past it at the time , oh yes and my partner , otherwise they could have been badly injured.

Anyone ever come across this before?? Bog standard Siemens oven.
Wear this, for cooking from now onBut I am happy no one got hurt
