Very nice work indeed! Thank you MistyLeg for sharing these pictures.

I also make silver jewellery but only as a hobby these days.

You can see a few examples of my last year's works here:

A combo project of sorts: wood and electronics!

An ever morphing ambient light sculpture on a wood base constructed without fasteners or glue (all doweled mortise and tenon joints).

Hi

It is great to see everyones makes, there are some really lovely things posted.

I make silver jewellery and thought I would take the opportunity to share some pictures of some of the things I have made recently.

It would be nice to be in touch with others interested in making jewellery too.

Best wishes
Wow lovely jewellery!

I want to know something ..... do you "beat out" the silver and make the shapes yourself? ... or smelt the silver or whatever one does to make jewellery like that? Or do you buy stuff and put it together?

I ask only because I`m experimenting with tin cans at the moment ... don`t laugh ..... I beat out some cans yesterday and they look really sort-of "Persian-like", made tea-light hangers, with odd bits of old junk jewellery decorating them - bits and bobs hanging off attached chains, etc.

As soon as I get some new batteries for my camera will take photos and post them here.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply, just getting used to how the notifications work and missed this post until today

Thanks for the nice words about my work. I try to make everything myself from raw materials. I have textured, punched, sawn and formed the shapes for the pieces in the pictures from raw silver sheet and wire and have then soldered them together.

The tin can experiment sounds really exciting and ingenious, can't wait to see some pictures, bet they look great. Are you riveting the pieces together to connect them?

Best wishes

Your work is lovely. I also work in silver as you do and I've done some casting. There some pics on this thread. I'll see if I can't dig them up so you don't have to wade through.

Too bad you're so far away!

Thank you! I would love to see your work. It is a shame we are not nearer, I do miss having 'make days' with friends.

I tried casting once, but was definitely not what you would call a natural! I sometimes use fine silver in a clay form, which can give some great result too.

Looking forward to seeing some of your pictures.

Sadly I don't have a work space anymore so I've not made anything in ages. I should really look for a shared studio some where.

Post more of your stuff!

Recycled tin cans ......and recycled old junk jewelery (am I bored , or what?)

The mirror frame was an old plain wooden plank frame that I painted - in a crazy (and bored) moment.

Especially like your mirror frame, which mediums did you use to paint it, if I may ask?
I too like to dabble with old tin cans and make tee light holders out of them, yours look so shiny, do you treat them somehow?

Thank you Twinklestar, for your comments.

The mirror frame is painted with acrylics. I`m "recycling" my old acrylics as I now paint (real pictures - hahaa) with oils.

Why are the cans shiny? I beat them! With a hammer.
I found an old piece of round wood - an old table leg - put that on my worktable on a thick magazine - sit on one end to hold it down - position the can on the free sticking out end ......... and rotate and beat it!
I punched the holes with a big nail and hammer, also using the "log" inside so the cans don`t dent.

A bit wearing on fingers!

Actually I think they`ll look more interesting once they`ve rusted?

Nothing exceptional, really. It's just that after spending so much time outside on the terrace, the ikea kitchen was in very bad shape so I painted it.

This is a picture of the generic kitchen

And the paint job I did

Nil! That looks lovely! Now answer this ...... please ..... is that a "toy" kitchen? Or is that a real kitchen on your patio? It looks so "real" - microwave and everything.

Anyway, whatever it is ... you did a really good job I must say.

no it's a toy. I couldn't find a proper picture size for the before kitchen so the first picture is a random one from the Internet. The kitchen was horrible all the outside wood turned black with the protective coat off because of the rain. So I had to disassemble it and sand all pieces before to apply a pre paint coat and the color. It took me a week and an half to do it all because of the drying period, etc.

The kids love it.

This is my next project. I will pain it also turquoise to put in our bedroom. Next is a big drawer commode and there is also a small buffet on the waiting list.

I ordered a paint gun which I should receive next week to speed up the painting process and make the final look smooth and even.

I like to find stuff in the street or second hand stuff to buy and refurbish. My next dream tool I want is a round saw table.
