On the 4th July, a tiny bundle of enourmous energy and joy entered our lives, albeit in the saddest and most tragic of circumstances. Last night Beggas mother flew over from Iceland and spent the night with us and Rob, Beggas boyfriend, and this morning we all headed back to Zurich airport where Eyrún and Teckla have caught a 10.30 flight to Copenhagen where they will get a connecting flight this afternoon to Reykjavík.

Of course we are so happy that Teckla is back with her real family, and that Eyrún has been reunited with what is effectively the "living" legacy of her daughter, but from a purely selfish point I feel very sad this morning, sad because Teckla has gone but also because it feels a bit like losing Begga again. I've just called my wife and she reports that the farm is very quiet this morning and even our 2 Rottis are very subdued.

So, I thought I'd share a few photos and moments with Teckla. If you have any photos of her, please feel free to post them here.

First off, a little video taken the day after she arrived with us. Remember that just a few days before her "mum" had mysteriously gone and she had been taken by the police to live at a vets over the weekend, she had then been driven 3 hours by her friends to a strange house with 2 enourmous dogs and that night she cried herself to sleep in our bedroom.



But a few days later she was completely accepted by our 2 Rottis (although Kyra, the girl, was still a bit suspicious and jealous). Here Teckla is enjoying some fun with Dylan, our "Rescue Rotti" on the dogs sofa. It seems cold hearted from a human perspective that to heal a dogs grieving, you have to make them forget the friend they have lost with play, work and training. But it needed doing.

And a few weeks back, we had a BBQ on the farm for some of Beggas friends and we had a wonderful day celebrating Beggas life with her little pride and joy.



But the photo that is the most special for me is when Begga came to our farm to photograph our horses and introduced Teckla to Rheema. Begga was so happy that day and it shows here, and you can also almost read Tecklas thoughts....

"Mum, are you sure about this. that is a very big dog!"

Teckla is a lovely dog, very cheerful and sociable. When I saw her she was still stressed and in mourning but I'm sure that with time she will go back to her old self and will have a happy and long life in Iceland.

Teckla looks almost like a twin of my own doggie, who is partly pinscher. She looks like a lovely dog, I'm happy things end well for her.

I never met Begga or Teckla, but was very moved by the tragedy of Begga's death and all the love and emotion which poured onto EF from her friends. I just want to say thankyou GG for taking care of Teckla and making her happy again, I'm sure that she will be a huge comfort to all of Begga's family in Iceland. Also, beautiful photos.
