You know you've really integrated when you can understand MySwitzerland's new poster boy, Martin Horat, the weather prophet:
Bi üs in der Schwiiz gits a verreckte schöne Winter....
PS: For all those women whose hearts beat wildly for this man, he's been happily married for years. You'll have to make do with another weather prophet.

so the message to potential visitors....come and see Switzerland, we like to talk to ants, and we're really pretty insane. But we have good winters. Which is good, cos even the ants ski.

He's explaining why all the French, Italian and German ants have come to Switzerland: he's predicted a darn good winter for Switzerland. He ends the clip by inviting you to come to Switzerland. We don't bite.
Fair play to them for taking a risk and trying something new... but I can't help feeling the message will be missed by most people. They will probably be so shocked by the ants that they won't bother reading the subtitles.
Certainly wouldn't make my more inclined to ski in Switzerland.

Now will there be an SVP campaign to get rid of all these foreign ants?

Such an ad does invite you to speculate who the target audience is supposed to be!
I'm guessing the target audience is the nationalities of the ants he identifies particularly since one of the types of ants is (supposedly)English! Seriously, I don't think any British ants are going to sneak onto a barge in Dover just to hike over to Switzerland.
I believe its better to learn swiss-dialect directly rather than learning high-german and wasting the time :-)
However, this is a great trick to ask/push the foreigners to learn german language but at the end of the day you hear people here only speak in dialect...so its absolutely waste of time...in this way they will tell you that you are never integrated hahaha
There are courses offered to learn swiss-german then one can surely understand Mr. Martin Horat :-)
I saw this on British TV and couldn't work out what language he was speaking. I thought I could recognise Swiss German but this sounds so different, thought they'd gone really traditionalist and used Romansch!

I don't think so. Even if you plan to settle down forever and ever in the German-speaking part of CH, I still think learning High German is a must, especially being in a professional setting. Of course if you have no intention of settling here, the advantage of knowing High German can still open a few doors in other countries as well. If you do settle here, you can always pick up SG after or while you learn HG, I think.
If you're talking about learning High German and then being frustrated to no end because everyone speaks SG, I am with you. But I found that most people (at least professionally) generally are cool and switch to HG if asked nicely.

When you start sweating and having a really bad time when you get with your bike in the subway/tram and you realize you forgot to buy the half price ticket for it
By the way, I can't understand anything that guy says, but its accent sounds really funny, I don't understand those who say that swiss german sounds bad
