Re: New Games From SVP

This game is nothing short of disgusting. I read in the paper yesterday that a group in Geneva is trying to take them to court over this game - claiming that it breaks various laws.

I guess it's these laws (like the one about racism) that the SVP finds so annoying - no problem - they'll just try to change the laws so they can drag Switzerland back into the dark ages with impunity.

Re: New Games From SVP

It's all the more vile because it seems to be aimed at children.
It was also discussed in the Security Creation Initiative/Black Sheep Posters thread (here on) .

Absolutely disgraceful.

I love this country more than any other in the world however the SVP campaign for this election makes me ashamed to live here.

the campaign itself doesn't make me ashamed, since idiotic parties exist in every country. What makes me ashamed is that this party will most likely remain the largest party after these elections

Let's also not forget that this doesn't come from a crazy fringe party - they have 25% of the popular vote and a bigger share of the vote than any other party in Switzerland.

Did anyone get to the second part? I kind of gave up after I had to steer the goat to munch the passports flying through the air to the black and yellow hands grabbing them below. I found the bit where you have to kick the judge particularly distasteful - as was the warning "Watch out, stop the judge or he will make everyone a citizen."

The SVP have always had a clear policy on foreigners voting - if they want to vote, they can apply for citizenship. Yet, this is a party which tries as hard as they can to block people getting citizenship.

As Nairda already commented, it would make sense to merge this thread with this one : Security Creation Initiative [aka SVP black sheep and grabbing hands posters]

Re: New Games From SVP

I wonder how long it's going to take before the SVP starts using words like "ausgerottet", "Lebensraum", "Rassenhygiene" and "Herrenvolk". I think the more power such a party has, the more it will show its true face, and the more extreme it will become. Funny thing is that Switzerland cannot function without its foreigners, but that's an inconvenience the SVP is willing to overlook.

It would be amusing to see what would happen if all the foreigners went on strike for the day, but unfortunately would probably play into the SVP's grubby little hands...

Re: New Games From SVP

Is the SVP anti-foreigner, anti-immigration, or simply racist or bigoted?
I've never looked into it, beyond what I read here.

One thought though:
What is there support concentrated?
Is it at all levels in Swiss society, or is certain areas/groups (like the BNP is the UK)?
As a white collar IT guy in a bank, are 1 in 4 of my Swiss colleagues racist, xenophobic bigots? Or would I have to be, say, a brickie to meet them?

Re: New Games From SVP

By nature we are all racists, but some of us learn that is wrong to harbour prejudices against specific types of human beings that we don't understand. I doubt, however, if there is anyone who is free of prejudice. This is why a civilised multicultural society needs to encourage and promote tolerance rather than encourage our natural instinct to be racist. This is one of the principles of the Swiss political system, concordance. The extreme factions in Switzerland (both right and left) pose a threat to this foundation. The SVP, in particular Bundesrat Blocher, have been seen to blatantly disregard the principle of concordance. The SVP is claiming to 'save Switzerland' (these games are entitled 'Zottel rettet die Schweiz') and yet they are threatening to destroy Switzerland's precious political balance and tolerance. Save Switzerland from the SVP is what I say.

All of the above, though they try to convince the voting public that they are not as extremist as the opposing parties claim they are.

Statistically yes, but probably not. I am assuming that on average the regular bank employee has a bit more brain than the average SVP voter. If you work for UBS in IT then I wouldn't understand what an SVP voting Swiss person is doing there, since most people there are foreigners.

Do I take it there's no chance the games will appear on the EF arcade?

I sat with a Swiss colleague a couple of weeks ago looking at these games and the questions you had to answer to get to play the games. I was so shocked I found it funny, if that makes sense.

Re: New Games From SVP

Fantastic fun! No I'm educated and broad minded enough to treat it with the disdain it deserves by finding it ironically funny. Although this is easily done when I am "lucky" enough to be white and middle class, I suppose...

Is it right to tar a quarter of the Swiss as, well basically, neo-Nazis though? As far as I know the SVP had two factions, one of which is more pragmatic, perhaps it could be said dumbed down, and the other which is more extremist and controversial - and therefore gets the high exposure in the Press and in people's mind. With the former I doubt they are any more right wing than the Conservative Party in the UK or the current incumbents governing the good old US of A... mind the Republicans are VERY right wing!

Re: New Games From SVP

Here's another game about the SVP - very satisfying to play.

After 3 attempts my highest score was 52217. I dare say you can beat that easily.
