When the rubber on the airplane's tires squeal back down on runway 14 at ZRH and I'm home again.

When I swam in a crystal clear lake on a sunny day, surrounded by mountains and forest, and the water was not glacial.
When I ate a cheese fondue in a cliff-side cave in the middle of a via ferrata.

.....when I saw ice blue glacier water for the first time in Lugano and swam in the coldest water I have ever experienced. Beautiful!

I'll never forget... the day KFC in Geneva closed... I danced with joy and hoped a decent restaurant might open in it's stead

When my husband I were once forced to stop driving due to the incessant rain near a village in Interlaken - the breath taking view as we parked somewhere randomly. The snow clad alps at one side, the crystal clear water in between. After a while the rain stopped and the golden sun rose again. It felt heavenly. | | The following 4 users would like to thank as02 for this useful post: | |

...I have to be cliche...
landing at ZRH, seeing a Swiss flag, and finally, for the first time, getting that feeling that I was back "home". The first few times I never got that feeling.

Driving home with the hood down along the shores of the Zugersee when the sun was setting in late summer. Absolutely beautiful.

As a kid, I have fond memories of Switzerland (Geneva) but when I was back in CH as an grown woman, I was almost shocked at how openly Swiss locals pursue women. My first day of work in ZH, one man, smartly dressed in a business suit, followed me all the way from the ZH Bhf to where I lived (Bellevue). He was like "Hello, I think you are a pretty looking girl, want to have dinner with me?". Later that week, one man I had a casual convo with on the local train decided to come and sit next to me every time I took the train. He kept asking me to have dinner with him. Few weeks later, one young guy who was riding the same train as me asked me if I was interested in having coffee with him, I told him I can't, he got off the train, knocked on the train window and winked at me. Then the next day he came into my compartment and asked me for my number. I thought it was bad in Italy. "Ciao Bella Ciao"

i will never forget when i made my first real friend here- i was hanging out my window (luckily we were on the ground floor!) talking to my neighbor. i didn't understand too much french- she spoke no english and asked a woman walking by if she spoke english to help us translate. it turns out the woman spoke was from chile and spoke spanish so we started chatting like parakeets in spanish and have been close friends ever since. it made a huge difference to be here and have solid friendships so that was a big, happy moment for me

Seeing the menu of a basic, virtually empty Italian restaurant in Basel on a Saturday night trying to sell a Pizza Margherita for 28 CHF, and converting it back into sterling in my head.

Seeing the stars in Wengen on a clear night
Also - hearing a 24 year old man telling me a few days before my first Onion Market (big Onion related party in Bern), in response to my "What is the best time to go?", him saying "5am......after that all the best onions have gone". Gave me a great insight into the crazy party animals that are the Bernese

Arriving at Canadian customs on a family visit, presenting my Canadian passport and being asked in a surly manner 'why are you coming to Canada?'
The same trip, upon returning to Switzerland, presenting my residence permit and being told with a smile, 'welcome back'!
