I am picking my son up for Christmas on the 23rd Dec from Basel Mulhouse Airport and after I have picked him up, we would really like to visit the Christmas market in Basel.

Could anyone advise me the nearest (or reasonably near) parkhaus, or parking to the market, and where exactly in Basel does the market take place, I read somewhere that is around Barfüsserplatz is this correct?

Any info would be gratefully received

I'm not totally sure of parking as I do not have a car here, I *do* know there is a car park up near SBB and another at Fischmarkt, each involving a bit of a walk (or a hop on a tram for a stop or three) to get to Barfusserplatz. I do not know if there are spots closer though, sorry!

Meanwhile, I think the main portion of the market is at Barfusserplatz, I think it is spread a tad also, with market stalls over at the fountain and maybe a few places surrounding each as well.

The Basel christmas market is on Barfüsserplatz and this year there is also a bit up on Münsterplatz.

If you are coming from the airport, the best place to park will be in one of the parking garages on Heuwaage and then walk (5 mins) from there.
You can´t park on Barfüsserplatz.

Good advise, go for a Parkhaus or park way away and grab a tram.

Or you can park at Schifflande and walk up from there -- again about 5-7 minutes. Schifflande car park tends to be quite busy, though, so you might have to queue to get in.
