Looking outside at the grey weather and the uncharacteristically warm weather we're having this year, I'm having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit this year. Given that it's St. Nicolas Day, I thought I'd put pen to paper to see if I couldn't whip up a little Xmas spirit here on EF.
So in the spirit of
A Visit from St. Nicholas by Clement Clarke Moore, I offer you an EF version of a Christmas classic.
Twas the night before St. Nick’s day And all through the forum People wrote out their wishlists Models of decorum Despite the rain, choirs sang... I could hear it Everyone doing their best To get in the spirit Our skis sat in the corner Ready to go Looking quite lonely As there was no bloody snow Each poster sat down To write out his wishlist With the strength of the Swiss franc How could we resist? Because we’d all like some presents At the end of the day Life’s tough here in Swissland On only 120K We stopped to reflect On those posting from heaven Like Begga and mark Whose rep blobs hit seven We quickly returned To the question of presents Wants, wishing and longings And some dodgy events So there sat a note From our own LIB “Dear Santa,” it read, “Could I have KFC?” For Ouchboy a LOLcat And grumpygrapefruit some doggies All Papa Goose wanted Was respite from the ‘froggies. Phil_MCR muttered "Some kind of gizmo" And a newbie shouted "Brown sugar, a kilo!" For adrianlondon, It was a Billag subscription And for Nil, the latest In Muslim chick fiction Treverus said something about Something from “Singers” And I’m pretty sure Dervaish Mentioned something about swingers? On the Idiot’s list was Just one little greenie... And for The Local It was a whipping from Schmutzli Whatever you’ve wished for, I hope that Samiclaus delivers What makes EF great Is that most here are givers.
Christmas is just around the corner... Happy holidays, everyone!
(Sorry I couldn't include everyone -- additional verses are welcomed!)
