Meter Stick

I am trying to find a meter stick to utilize for crafts and school projects. After looking at several retailers (Migros, Coop, Jumbo, department stores, etc.), I am finding only cloth-type tape measures used for sewing and roll-up metal tape measures used by carpenters. Can anyone advise me as to where I might find a meter stick made of non-bendable material?

I think what you are looking for is called a Doppelmeter.

You should be able to find in jumbo and most Bau + Hobby stores.

Re: Meter Stick

I am a carpenter and find the fold out wooden or white plastic rigid rulers quite good, they may not be in the same section as the tape measures. Failing that some spirit levels (wasserwage here) have measurements on the side, look near the concrete trowel section for yellow aluminum ones in various lengths. I have also seen some at Aldi a couple of weeks ago in one of their specials bins with hand tools in it.

Too slow, that is the one I mean shown above.

You might have more luck if you try the dresssmaking/sewing specialist shops. That's where I got mine from but it is a few years ago now.

Another alternative could be to attach a cloth one to a meter of normal stick from Jumbo.

Edit: I thought this was what she was looking for

Yes, this is exactly what I had in mind. I will try a sewing or textiles shop.

Many thanks!

I was looking for a ruler the other day, got one from my MM Migros, they had one of those too.

Jumbo is pretty good for your DIY needs.

Re: Meter Stick

I had a metal meter rule, but I have no idea where it is, nor can I remember where I bought it.

Fairly useless information, other than to say that they can be bought in Switzerland.

Re: Meter Stick

You want to go to JUMBO and buy a one meter long metal LEVEL (the thing with the little liquid bulbs). They are typically marked with the cm on the side. Not too expensive.

Re: Meter Stick

I dropped by my local JUMBO today and found three possible options.

The 1 meter level I mentioned (plastic body). Cost is CHF 21.50

A 1.8 meter long piece of aluminum that you can use as a straight edge and you can tape on one of the paper tapes from Ikea. Cost is CHF 21.90

A 1 meter alu ruler. Cost is CHF 33.90
