disposing of large junk in Baar

Gents and Ladies,

I e-mailed the Baar administration about disposing of my bed and mattress (trust me, these are the very finest Ikea junk, so I wouldn't even give them away to any unsuspecting individual). So they told me it has to be disposed of at something called the Baar Okihof. All well and good, but I had a couple of questions for those of you who may have done this before:

1. Does the Baar Okihof come and pick up the items from your place?
2. Barring the above, anyone know of a moving company who will take it to the Okihof for a fee?

I guess I could call the Okihof, but the chances of getting someone who can speak English may be slim

cheers,

www.risi-ag.ch
if it fits into the bag they'll take it away for 195 fr. Anything but normal trash they will accept in the bag.

Okihof charges per kilo, but I cant remember the price.

Thanks -- I've sent them an e-mail :-)

I think the bed will not fit in that bag, but I guess I could dismantle it somehow and maybe the pieces can be hauled away.

Bump -- any other suggestions folks? It can't be that hard to toss junk in Schweiz, can it?

Just look in the phone book for an "Entsorgungsfirma". They will come, take it apart and schlepp away whatever you have. I paid 40 francs for a 2 seater sofa in Bern.

Re: disposing of large junk in Baar

You don't have a Caritas or Emaus charity organisation there that you could donate the bed to ?

In Geneva they come and pick up the bed for free.

Re: disposing of large junk in Baar

Hi there
Usually in Switzerland you can call a "Brockenhaus" (institution for buying/ donate household). There are a little bit noisy but they collect for free.
If your bed is still useable call them http://www.directories.ch/gelbeseiten/base.aspx?do=extendedSearch
If not call the "entsorgung" in Baar
http://www.baar.ch/de/verwaltung/dienstleistungen/?action=showdienst&dienst_id=8214
May they can collect it if you explain them your situation.
Have a nice week end.

Re: disposing of large junk in Baar

I understand that the brocki can reject anything that is too old/grubby or just unsalable. We took a load of rubbish on Monday to the one in Zug, amongst the paper and karton was a small piece of wood. I had to pay chf 2.60 to throw it away, seemingly it depends on weight.

Thanks everyone! The Entsorgungsfirma sounds excellent -- will look that up.
