Re: Wasp Nest

Hi "D"

Don't do anything yourself, get the janitor! He/she will have a spray, if not you need to call the fire department.

Re: Wasps !!!

You bunch of wimps.

To exterminate wasps you can buy a DIY spray bottle and fill it with diesel and spray them.
They die virtually immediately.

Re: Wasps !!!

We have a wasp in our kitchen since hours, we try to build a trap for it but we don't know if it will work, as my daughter is allergic I'm afraid to just let it there, but I don't know what to do to get rid of this wasp and be able to have a good night...any idea?

Re: Wasps !!!

Best bait for wasps is raw bacon. No kidding- they love it, and it has a strong enough smell that it is good at attracting them.

Make one of these out of a bottle:

water with a drop of dish soap in the bottom up to about 2-3cms from the inverted neck (I cut them so the neck goes lower down, hang the bacon with some string or put it in a little cup like the pic so it is out of the water. The dish soap breaks the surface tension on the water so that when the bugger buzzes around in there he gets properly wetted and drowns. Even if he manages to climb out of the water the soap will lower the surface tension enough that he will suffocate as it will block the pores through which he breathes.

I've been trying to trap some at work that are flying inside; no bacon there so tried sweet fruit drinks and beer and they don't even come close to it. Bacon is the trick.

That is a wonderful contraption! I used to make those for summer in SA .... for catching the flies! .... a piece of raw fish or meat for bait.

Only problem was disposing of the whole smelly contraption.... dead flies and rotten meat!

Vacuum cleaner. A hand-held vacuum is also good.

Re: Wasps !!!

Wasps, how I hate them! I opened the bedroom window yesterday morning and in a matter of minutes there were 4 flying around exploring. The first one got hit by my boyfriend... don't know what kind of weapon he used, wasn't there, but clearly it wasn't effective as the little beast recovered and attempted flying again setting as his goal my boyfriend who is (of course) allergic to their sting. So, having no wasp spray in the house, and since trying to hit it in the air with my flip-flops was out of the question, I had to improvise... so, I grabbed my Pronto (the spray I clean the dust with) and sprayed it. It went down and died in seconds... and so did all the others! Victory! Plus, I had a very nice lemon smell in the house after
