Re: Shall I confiscate my son's stash?

We have a very simple rule for our family. If you're not an adult, you live by the rules of my wife and I. If you are an adult and don't like our rules, then feel free to move out. Some rules are negotiable. Some aren't. Fireworks certainly wouldn't be permitted.

Re: Shall I confiscate my son's stash?

There were kids round our way setting off the odd leftover firecracker last night as well - so if it's any consolation to the OP, at least your son isn't the only lawless young reprobate in Switzerland.

Re: Shall I confiscate my son's stash?

Having had the misfortune of spending 48 hours in the burns unit of a large children's hospital, my kids will not ever be allowed to play with gunpowder, fireworks or flammable liquids...

Re: Shall I confiscate my son's stash?

DO NOT store them until next year.... put them in a bucket of water and soak them for at least 24 hours for landfill disposal, or discharge all of them and have a good time.

Depending on the chemical composition over time salts can form/leach and become sensitive.

Bit like old weedkiller can combust on pathways after the water has evaporated.

I used to have a cottage industry firework factory in the Uk.

What a great way to make money!

My teenage boys also love mucking around with firecrackers and would certainly try and construct more intresting stuff if given the chance. Out of respect for the neighbourhood you can't be letting fireworks off willy nilly, and if you've told him not to play around with them and he can't resist then I guess you'll have to help him be good and lock them away until 30th July.

Think of the pet owners who can plan for the official times for fireworks but who's pets are affected by your son's potential anti-social behaviour between those times.

I understand the pet part of your post but I wouldn't call my son "potentially anti-social". The word Luusbueb would be more appropriate.
