| Were you the student or teacher?!
Did your employer know about it? If so, did he or she have an opinion on it?
For me, that would be an issue, I'd hate to be seen as less professional by my colleagues and employer, but at the same time, I think the same as Olygirl - love is love, why miss out on an opportunity just because of the fact that you came together in the classroom?
To clarify the point, he's not a dissertation prof or all-important academic situation, personally, if he was a teacher in this kind of institution, I'd probably advise the same as you guys above - be ultimately discreet or wait until the academic ties are finished with, then go for it.
A question to teachers to adults - do you ever have personal 'rendez-vous's with your students because you like them and would want to get to know them better? | |

Is it really friend or is it a "friend of yours."

Just askin'.
In all seriousness, to answer another post, the reason why the student is never questioned is the power dynamic in these relationships are almost always Teacher over Student. That is why they are so frowned upon in the business place. There is just too much room for abuse, figurative and literal.
I would say no until their direct and indirect Teacher/Student interactions are over as I have seen what happens with these situations when other students "find out." It never seems to go well at this point, all other things being equal. Good luck to your "friend."
