There is a meeting at Malley social centre of people who loves parlor games at least once a month, I myself I have gone there twice and it's fun, you don't even need to bring the games as they are provided by this association who organizes it all and it's completely free and you can bring your own drinks and foodstuff. They meet in other places too.

I think this might be the association (I've only went with other friends who knew already): http://www.chpiil.ch/

You can go there and meet people

PS: Some french-language knowledge would be recommended, although there is people like myself who goes there with english-speaking friends

Hey, Andy! I'm always up for some board games (and going to pubs!) -- I'll give anything a go. I'm also a fan of Warhammer and Blood Bowl

Shall we organise an event?

Hi all, sorry for the late reply. Some reason I was not emailed when you replied.

Some of us got together and went to an event by this Lausanne group: www.facebook.com/groups/chpiil/ . Good fun! See you there next time?

Happy for a trip to the pub for a game of some sort too!

Hello!

If you're into couchsurfing, there's a group in Lausanne that meet almost every week and play board games.. Usually we're around 10 people and it's super fun
!

Note that you need to be a couchsurfer to get the information about where to meet though..

Cheers
A

Hi Hello!

I live in Neuchatel, but for the love of board games, I would be more than eager to do a trip to Lausanne, from time to time.

Please let me know if you organize anything!

Did anything come out of this? I'm looking for some game lovers myself and have only recently landed in Lausanne.

Lusanne is a famous city for lot of things, but a post linked to nerds for this city is something I never imagined.

I prefer the term geek for myself, but hey ... it takes all species. And, with the EPFL, I'm sure it's not that hard to find nerds in the vicinity.

Re: Lausanne 'nerds' out there? Munckin game / rpg / board games in pub

Hello! I've recently started borrowing board games from a local ludothéque and organizing gaming sessions. I haven't met any people from EF who like board games, so here's a nice chance.

So, how about organizing a session in the Lausanne area, to meet and have fun with some games? In specific:
  • Place: probably a café or pub in the center / flon area; suggestions welcome.
  • Date: if there are people interested, hopefully soon.
  • Invited: gamers and non-gamers alike, who wish to meet new people and have some fun. I can also explain games in French, if needed.
Games that interest me:
  • Eurogames: mostly made in Germany, France and Belgium, their aspect is to provide a simple (but not simplistic) gameplay, featuring easy and clever mechanisms. Rules are in general short and most games can be explained in about 10-15 minutes.
  • Family games: they can be played with everyone, students, families, boys or girls. I also have some nice "gateway" games, to introduce non-gamers to this gaming genre.
  • Language independent: very important in our region. Apart from the rules, most games that I play have little or no in-game text. Once you know the rules, anyone can play the game.
Some popular examples of games that I like and can possibly have in my collection:
As mentioned in previous posts, there are also regular meetings organized by local associations once per month, but I haven't seen many expats there. So, let's rally and get out of your hideouts...

I support this.

I can contribute: more munchkin, Small World, Ticket to Ride, Puerto Rico and some other games. Also, I know a few folks from Couchsurfing that organize regular gaming meets.

Re: Lausanne 'nerds' out there? Munckin game / rpg / board games in pub

Hello everyone!

I'm not sure if this is active or not, but I would love to host a weekly or maybe bimonthly (depending on availability) game night.

This would range from board games to table top RPGs.

I don't have enough experience as a DM, but if someone wants to run a campaign, I would be happy to provide location of meet.

Board games available from my stock:

Zombicide (Season 1 + 2)
D&D 4.0 core books

-------------------games owned but not currently lausanne ---------------
Deus
Smallworld
Catan
Agricola
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Pandemic

Hi,

There's not a lot of traffic around here, but there is activity in the city.
So, here's the situation:
  • Currently, there are board game nights organized by the local association Ch'piiL. These events take place 2-3 times per month, either in Malley or in the city center, near the Chateau de Lausanne. Sometimes, also at Chavannes-près-Renens. All these areas have close proximity to lines M1/M2.
  • There are also, resuming from Jan. 2015, monthly events (big ones) hosted by the Ludothéque Le Dé Blanc, in Ecublens (close to M1).
There are many people showing up in these events, about 20-30 in the ch'piil events and about 40-50 in the Le Dé Blanc events (approx.). Of course, the majority of the players are French speakers*, but the hosts of the events are fluent in English and there are also English speakers showing up, as well. Last week, I played a game of Power Grid with a Welsh.

Next meetings are: Friday 23/01 at Chavannes-près-Renens, Tuesday 27 at Malley (ch'piiL both events) and Saturday 31/01 at Ecublens (Le Dé Blanc). These are open to everybody and of course free to attend.

If you're interested (and whoever else might be), drop by one of these; I'll be attending the first and the last one. Especially the events taking place at Ecublens are amazing and I fully recommend them!

* don't be intimidated by the fact that these are local events. That's exactly how I learned French, via these gaming nights!

Hi guys,

sorry for getting back so late. I currently DM a more-or-less weekly RPG game on Wednesdays in Lausanne. My holidays and the conclusion of a dungeon came in between, but if you're interested, we'd be happy to meet and see about expanding our gaming circle.

PM me if you're interested in more details!
