Clothing donation in Zurich?

I have some clothing in very good condition that I would like to donate to an organization for less fortunate. Is there such an organization in Zurich where I could drop off my clothing? I would hate to throw it out in the garbage. In Canada we have Salvation Army, Red Cross etc. What about here in Zurich?

Re: Clothing donation in Zurich?

Once or twice a year you'll get plastic bags from Texaid or other organisations through your letter box. They pick up the filled bags from the kerbside on designated days: http://www.texaid.ch/320.0.html?&L=4...html278.0.html.

Don't leave the bags out the evening before because there have been cases of gangs (for want of a better word) picking up the clothes and sorting out the good stuff for themselves. As it is the collecting charities have to bin/recycle a sizable proportion of what they collect because it's unusable. It sounds like they'll be pleased to see you here.

Another possibility that I've seen in Zürich are collection containers for clothes and shoes. The Texaid ones can be located by postcode: http://www.texaid.ch/301.0.html.

Re: Clothing donation in Zurich?

Thanks for that Eejit, I wondered about clothing donation, I didn't want to just put it in the bin. Since our shipping arrived I have discovered that our daughter has grown around 7cm compared to her Bangkok height. Must be all the fresh air.
