I only noticed this when I went back home for Christmas that I slept much better, probably due to the (literally) complete silence during the night. Since I came back the noise from the streets and trams have been a bit irritating (I live near the "highway" next to Irchelpark, Zurich). It doesn't bother me during the day when I usually have the window closed but in the night I need my fresh air.
Living in a woko (student) house my life really takes place in a single room with minimal furniture. I'm thinking of getting some heavy curtains and maybe hang some soft fabric on the walls to dampen noise, do you think that would work? Desperate measures might include covering the ceiling with some foam or something, haha.
I think if I wind up staying here for some time I might just move to someplace more quiet. I've never really lived downtown anywhere and I already just want to stay away from the city noise, I feel old...
