Summers are rather cool (often below 15°C), winters are rather warm (hardly any snow). I can't understand how anyone could prefer this over warm and sunny weather
Excellent, this is just what i'm after. The heat and humidity in Brisbane is rather oppressive, and if you can't stand it (like me), then you are restricted to being inside for around 4 months a year in aircon.

It is much easier to keep warm in the cold than it is to keep cool in the heat. In the cold all you have to do is put more layers of clothing on, but in the heat you are restricted to either aircon or swimming, that's it. Our bodies are natural heaters, so all you have to do is trap/insulate that heat.

This is exactly the reason why I want to get away from Brisbane and live in a colder climate such as Switzerland.

Switzerland is seldom if ever overly humid, while Brisbane climate is simply suffocating 5-6 months every year.
Very true. Sometimes it is so humid that you start sweating within minutes of walking outside, very uncomfortable.

A lot of people in Europe and the UK dream of coming here for our summers and heat, but once they actually do they are in for a shock and realise its not as pleasant as they thought. They might enjoy it for the first few weeks or so because they're swimming at beaches, but after this they soon get sick of it and find it too uncomfortable to do anything else.

Another reason I want to leave here is the climate. I cannot stand the heat and humidity of Brisbane and pretty much spend all summer in aircon. .
I don't know the humidity of Brisbane, but can say that the humidity of most places in Switzerland is relatively high. Higher than in Budapest or Prague or Cairo or Damascus, but comparable to London, Paris, Milano, Pisa, Marseille, Tunis, Algiers and Oran.

Obvious of course is that temperatures by average cannot be as high as in Brisbane. Here in CH, a lot of course depends on the location. While most cities are between 200 and 550 meters above sea level, there are sizeable villages and some towns up to 2000 meters. And while it is much colder in St. Moritz on 2000 m/a/s, it is far dryer there, and the air is much better. Basel of course at 200m has a milder climate than Zch at 400m. Interesting is that Geneva at a similar height above sea-level than Zch clearly has a rather a bit milder climate. Clearly due to the size of the lake.

Yes, relative humidity in Basel, for example, is about 70% year round. However, relative humidity and absolute humidity are two entirely different things. 70% relative humidity in 20 C temperature versus 70% relative humidity in 35-40 C just don't compare at all. Out of interest: have you ever experienced the latter three or more months straight? (I'm asking since I know some people can take it - I cannot, and neither does the OP, apparently.)

Re: Move from Brisbane to Switzerland?

The temperature in Brisbane can reach 34 degrees by 8am and 100% humidity.

I worked there in the construction and we would start work as early as 4 - 5am to beat the heat.

Also concrete doesn't like the heat either.

Sorry but the humidity that I've experienced here in Zurich is bearable and short lived. In that I mean it's is only at its worst for a few hours over midday... OP would find it a pleasant change believe me...
