| | | Daily UK newspapers - where have they gone??
All last week I noticed that UK newspapers like the Times/Telegraph , were a day behind in the kiosks at the main station. There were no papers today just a motheaten Sunday Times. Needless to say the assitants at the kiosk know nothing!!
Anybody know whats changed? For the last 5 years I have wandered down to the station got my paper and gone for lunch. (note for modern people: I really like a paper paper and not that internet thingy)

Consider a kindle. The daily rag arrives each morning regardless of Belgian waffles.

I've never seen English newspapers here but only here about 4 or 5 months. Let me know if they come back though.
The Times not the Sun I hope!

I get The Times delivered every morning at 4am, and the Sunday Times each Sunday for £8.50 a month.
That's delivered to my iPad - nothing to bundle up for the paper collection either...

I do alot of reading on my iPad -although I must admit I don't have any newspaper subscriptions.
I would probably only go buy the papers when I'm feeling homesick rather than every day. It would be good to hold something familiar |

Ipad!
It even opens the page at where you last left the paper. Just a little more simple than leaving the paper folded on the page you were reading.

I have also noticed the decrease in UK newspapers - no big, multi sectioned one to read on the train on Sundays. However, a new one to the stands recently is the China Weekly News. Why's that then???

The Sun on Sunday is coming soon | Quote: | | | | The Sun on Sunday is to publish for the first time next weekend, News International has announced.
An email to all staff said that Rupert Murdoch, boss of parent company News Corporation, would "be staying in London to oversee the launch".

The Times not the Sun I hope! | | | | | Good news-shops here have
- the Times
- the Daily Telegraph
- the Financial Times
- the Guardian
- the Independent
plus two or three boulevard-journals
and on Sunday
- Sunday Times
- Observer
plus weekly
- the Economist
but this may become a subject to change

Some of the kiosk shops, Zürich HBF for instance, have newspaper printers that allow you to choose many global newspapers from a list, print them out and pay at the kiosk, what these cost I have no idea as I have never used one

I used to buy the Observer from Zurich HB once in a while & was always a bit pissed off that they left out all the magazines. Same with the Guardian - no Weekend mag included & they still charged 7.50 for them.
As iPads/tablets become more & more ubiquitous, why would you pay £5 for half a paper when you can read either for free on the website or pay £10 a month to download daily iPad editions including the mags?

Didn't the dailies just become sensationalist and the weekend editions purely contain celebrity lists of "likes & "dislikes"?
