Its an old map of zurich. Pretty cool so I thought other people might be interested.

Thats cool. Although the bridge over the limmat from the Niederdorf strasse looks and a lot less stable for drunken walking than today

... and here's a map of the city walls from 1705...

I can see my house in Enge on that map, but it would be ouside the city walls... I am a villein then

And whilst we're on the subject, here's one of Basel.

Here's an online zoomable one from 1850. It shows most of Kanton Zurich down to house level. At that time Zurich was more or less between the Sihl and the Limmat plus Niederdorf. Amazing!

You'll need to zoom in a few levels to activate the old map. When you get there then you can turn off the blue Haltestelle dots by clicking the 7th icon from the top left (the one that looks like sheets of paper) then removing the tick for Haltestellen.

History of the map:

Im Herbst 1842 beschloss der Zürcher Grosse Rat, eine Karte des Kantons Zürich erstellen zu lassen. In der Zeit von 1843 bis 1851 entstanden unter der Leitung von Johannes Wild aus Richterswil 27 Original-Messtischblätter im Massstab 1:25000. Lassen Sie sich von der Wildkarte zeigen, wie der Kanton Zürich im Jahr 1850 ausgesehen hat!
