World Economic Form Competitiveness Report

Now that the World Competitiveness report is officially released we can all bask in the warm feel-good feeling of being quasi-milk-cows.

Switzerland has been ranked in second position, close behind the US, followed by Denmark and Gernamy.

For those interested, it's all here.

Re: World Economic Form Competitiveness Report

This is very interesting, and ego satisfying, but even after having read the following on their website, I still don't know what "global competitiveness" means. Can anyone help?

Quote:
The Global Competitiveness Report series has evolved over the last three decades into the world’s most comprehensive and respected assessment of countries’ competitiveness, offering invaluable insights into the policies, institutions, and factors driving productivity and, thus, enabling sustained economic growth and long-term prosperity.

Re: World Economic Form Competitiveness Report

I think competiteveness may really translate into business friendly environment, which may translate into, the government will bend over backwards to do what large coroporations want. As I see it that is how US got number 1, Switzerland as number 2 sounds more reasonable.

Different rankers, different rankings ...

The Economist has just published its Business environment rankings with Switzerland ranked number five and the US number nine.

Stop the cynicism....it is pretty well defined how they do the study. Stable institutions, good infrastructure, skilled workforce. Switzerland ranks high in all of these.

Interesting to look at the top business problems for Switzerland: tax regulations (imagine the different cantonal taxes are a headache), government bureaucracy and inadequately educated workforce
