Only been to those two (for any significant amount of time)

I did go to cirque du soleil in Zurich (I think it was Zurich), and that was good, but it would have been the same in any city so can't really add Zurich to the list...

I also drove through the motorway roadworks in Bern a few times, but never went in to the city so can't add that either.

Been to a few nice towns, but they are not cities...

So just the two... but they are in order of preference

Would be easier if they spoke French in Basel, but I'll just have to learn German I s'pose...

This is fantastic! Can anyone recommend any small local towns that they like that's close to Lausanne?

I will have my roadbike and would love to trek it out here and there.

Fancy a 200 km round (but level) trip to a beautiful town that's not in Switzerland? Then I recommend Annecy. Gorgeous.

Nyon most of all, but also Morges and Rolle and Coppet are nice. On the Lavaux side it would be St. Saphorin, Vevey and Montreux. Or take your bike onto the ship to Evian and from Evian get by bike to Thonon.
