It's not a high salary, but very possible for 1 person. Perhaps a good step into the system- learn as much German as possible as quickly as possible, so you have a better chance for changing for a better job in the future.
Viel Gluck dabei (good luck).
No need to be condescending Tenacious - plenty of people earn less than 120k in Switzerland, honest | | This user would like to thank Odile for this useful post: | |

To do what?
This is extremely low, probably 2-3 % of the employees earn such low salaries.
Even the lowest salaries at Aldi and Lidl are better (CHF4016 and CHF3800 a month, and this was back in 2010). Really you should not accept this job.

for a single person, living on 3400 per day is certainly doable and is higher than most swiss salaries.

Despite being a member here for 2.5 years, this is a rather basic question and without much information.
Assume you mean per month. Assume you mean gross. Assume there's no decent bonus or extra pay.
That's around 40,000 CHF per year. Which is crap. Can you *LIVE* on that salary? Of course.

It's not a great salary on its own but could seem much better if some of these other things are included.

Thanks!!! | | | | | Is not a good salary, even for only one person. You have to take into account that here, you'll have to pay for health insurance, rent, food, plus all the bills (water, electricity, phone, gas) and depending where you'll live, you might have to add transport to that.
Is that the amount you'll get before or after taxes?
Not trying to be negative here, but I think is better for you to be aware of all those things before you make a life decision. Living in Switzerland can be a dream but can turn into a nightmare if you can't afford some basics.
Good luck!

It is doable, (I don't get into how much is not enough on here)
but it isn't so much the money as it is the apartment, that kind of salary makes a roommate situation the only solution in most Swiss cities because a lot of agencies hold to the rule of "rent must not be higher than X% of salary"- somewhere between 20% and a third. So an apartment for 600-1000 francs won't be easy to find alone and the dossier may not be accepted due to the salary.
OP, I think I remember you posting that you have a Swiss passport? Because your employer may be profiting from your situation by giving you a lower salary (for once, the Swiss have lower salaries, anyway).
I say this because if an employer wants to bring someone from a foreign country and apply for a work permit, the salary has to be within the market range for the job provided. A work permit for a job for 3400 will most likely be turned down by the authorities because that salary is usually for part time or entry-level jobs. The authorities would likely argue that there are enough people on the local job market for a job in that price range. So if you have a passport, just be aware that it is low and use it to get your foot in the door. If you need a work permit, you might not get one at that salary level.

Thanks!!! | | | | | Assuming its your gross monthly salary its doable but only just. If you are prepared to share a room it will be of help. Assume 25% gone in various taxes, social security etc, some 800-900 Fr gone in rent (shared accomodation) and another 85 Fr in transportation (assuming zone 10, zurich monthly pass), another 800 Fr in living expenses (and you cook yourself), then you will be left with 500 Fr which may be good money depending on your overall goal from this job.

Yes, of course... but they told me that it was like that at the beginning, I only have 1 year and a half in the testing field, they told me that a tester with 3 years of experience will gain around 100,000 at year... its for the take off... once im there i might find a better job at the time...
I just needed to know if i could "survive" with that amount... hahaha

Again this is just a joke. In one year you will be with the same salary and if you have for a raise you will be just replaced by the next victim. It's a scam, avoid.

Thanks all for the reply's!!! | | | | | So you're being told you're salary will or could go from chf 40,000 to chf 100,000 in a year and a half (you have 1.5 yrs experience need 3 yrs). I find that really hard to believe. If I was you I would try and find an employment agency in whatever field you are in located in Switzerland reach out to them. Ask them what you are potentially worth now what you are potentially worth in the future. What are the job prospects for changing company? etc Look for job postings in same field which might list salary. Doesn't make sense to me. Be careful. Good luck.

For what it's worth, I have never been employed for a company who is willing to give such a massive pay rise - especially just because one has spent more time there. In my experience the best way to raise your salary significantly is to change the company. From inside though, forget it. If this is what they are promising then they under no circumstances should be taken seriously!
