If there are no Rules it's easy!

On Sunday I will film a car explosion in Geneva, I thought we would need some permision , however;-

If your on private land & the car owner agrees, there is no law that states you can't blow up a car if you want to do so!

As it's just allowed, no permission is needed ,

So you can't wash a car on a Sunday but you can blow one up? Good to know!

Ah but on a Sunday you are probably breaking the noise regulations - did you check that?

Here at least you could only do it Monday to Saturday before 20:00. And not over lunchtime either.

Re: If there are no Rules it's easy!

It is too late to find out now, but I am very surprised there are no laws to be broken, I believe there are mining regulations, and wouldn't these be relevant?

Has anyone considered that explosives are dangerous, and Geneva might just have some old rules about setting off explosions? What if someone makes a mistake and a car door flies away and hits someone? In Madrid 2004 during the Spanish terrorist attack, a train door went into an appartment.

Re: If there are no Rules it's easy!

For everything that has to do with fire and explosions, I would go and ask the fire brigade. If it goes wrong, the fire won't stay within the boundaries of one's private property, so that argument might be seen as weak by an authority. Just an hypothesis.
But even in France there are rules for that...

There are only three levels of rules in Switzerland. Many things are clearly illegal in and of themselves; if something is not illegal it may still be Verboten; if it's not verboten either... then it's compulsory.

You should blow this up first (without too much noise), then it can blow up your car - and you're in the clear.

We checked with the Police , Fire & Ambulance services , we will have a fire truck & ambulance on hand.

Everybody has to stand 100m away, we don't expect anything to go more than 10 m.

The last time the pyro guy did it very little happened, so he is upping the explosives !

Of course, most people do this in France without permission, too...

The biggest difference is that the French generally use someone else's car...

Re: If there are no Rules it's easy!

Hope you checked for wildlife, in the middle of the nesting season- hares, badgers, lapwings, etc And of course for squatters, dossers or homeless, immigrants, legal or otherwise or kids playing hide and seek, or anything else. Very surprised it is not more regulated than that. If I lived nearby I would certainly put in a complaint if that happened on my doorstep, sorry to say.

It's in a concrete recycling plant, not got an close neighbours, nor wildlife & has a 2m fence around the complex with a big warning sign which I attach-

A couple of years I filmed in a cold war nuclear bunker Hospital in Geneva, that was an adventure too.
