Cost of buying a Beer Keg in Switzerland

Looking to buy a beer keg to slaughter in my garage. And feast upon some onion rings and chips. Promise to be discrete from nosey neighbors.

i would be discreet if i were you. if your neighbors find out, what you're doing in your garage, they would be very annoyed not to be invited to your barbaric traditions...

Re: Cost of buying a Beer Keg in Switzerland

It is a tradition for generations in my country, especially at weddings, and other festivals, to stand around, as one man or woman cracks the lid off, and penetrates the top with a tap. I was wondering if I could go to a Brewer directly and if I could find a sacred tap for this function.

Re: Cost of buying a Beer Keg in Switzerland

In Munich we went to a Getränkehändler and bought the beer, leaving a deposit on the barrel. Strangely we couldn't borrow a tap and had to buy a flimsy thing which didn't work well.

You really need a thick brass tap and a large mallet / hammer: if you don't get the tap into the barrel on the first stroke, the beer squirts out violently..

Sounds like fun....I think the costume is subtle enough not to raise any suspicions from the neighbours hehehe

If they are party dudes like the Jawa you won't have any problems hehehe.

I suggest you get a nice craft beer then invite over the English forum folks to help empty the keg and slaughter it for you.

The Bier Factory will gladly sell you a full keg (with deposit). You could also go to a Getränkehändler if you don't care about the beer.

How big of a keg are you looking for? We might have one hanging around. I will have to check though.

Send me a PM. I have a double tap and cooler that we hire out. We don't have Guinness in my bar but I could order it specially.

Does anyone here know how to recycle the mini-kegs? I've got a couple left over from the RWC.

Re: Cost of buying a Beer Keg in Switzerland

If they are the 5 liter barrels take them to the recycle center. If they are the larger ones, there are deposits on them ranging from 25 to 50 CHF each. You would go to the Getranke store for that.
