And next, the movie of his disgrace

Quote:
Ben Foster will star in a yet-to-be-titled film based on the book Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong by Irish sports journalist David Walsh. The project will be directed by Stephen Frears, whose past work includes The Queen.
Should be worth a watch - especially if they actually film bits in the French Alps etc

Is "sport" totally corrupt?

Lance Armstrong is sincerely(?) apologetic .......... because he got caught and not because he was a cheat.

Is it time that all "professional" sport be shunned on t'box?

The coverage (particularly) of football salaries and transfer fees makes me go KLIK!

Re: Lance Armstrong charged with doping by USADA

Lance once passed me during a 50k, 3000m climb up Haleakala volcano. Then he passed by me going the other way, on his way down. Then he passed me again, as he headed back up the same route for a second time.

Now I like to think that we'd have been even if I were into spandex and he hadn't been doped to the gills.

Re: Is "sport" totally corrupt?

Nope.

I just refuse to be a psychophantic moron who willingly digests the mindless and repeated coverage of irrelevance.

If you want REAL role models then consider the likes of Pauline Cafferkey and many, many others others who selflessly, and anonomously, contribute to the welfare of mankind.

Promising athletic career cut short by uncertainty over OP's gender, rendering him/her able to compete in neither men's nor women's events. S/he has nursed a grudge against the sporting establishment ever since, bitter resentment festering for years, with the occasional explosion of disgruntlement as seen every few weeks on EF.

Same here. Mainly that armchair betting on horse races is a lot cheaper than betting for real.

What have you done today to alleviate the suffering of the thousands who have starved and been butchered whilst posing, prancing poseurs have been paid millions and featured regularly on the news headlines?

Me? Not much. Found a cure for AIDS, invented a solar powered water purification system, built a hospital out of duck tape and hairpins and drowned Gary Glitter in a bucket.

What about you?

And via their charity organisation also helped millions? Lance only did what everyone else was doing so let's not single him out. The fact that the Tour organisers haven't/can't declare any of the other top competitors in the race as the winners for the years he's been stripped of tells you how bad it is.

Where is your outrage over the baseball players, hockey, football/soccer, athletics, etc, etc, etc. Any and all sports that pull in big money have cheats. So yes, most sports are totally corrupt these days. Unfortunately, people don't care because they continue to support the people/teams with almost rabid enthusiam. So long as they win, they don't care how they do it.

It's not just the fact that he was doping, bad enough that it is. He was more like a ring leader, and a complete liar and fraud. His anti-doping stance to the public, media, etc. and his aggressive tactics in smearing the names of any other cyclists (not on his team) who were doping- and anyone who suggested that he was doing the same- are despicable in light of his eventual confession.

On top of that, he'd do it all again?....
