It's not just the fact that he was doping, bad enough that it is. He was more like a ring leader, and a complete liar and fraud. His anti-doping stance to the public, media, etc. and his aggressive tactics in smearing the names of any other cyclists (not on his team) who were doping- and anyone who suggested that he was doing the same- are despicable in light of his eventual confession.

On top of that, he'd do it all again?....
Read what he said.

"If I was racing in 2015, no, I wouldn't do it again because I don't think you have to," he said.

"If you take me back to 1995, when doping was completely pervasive, I would probably do it again."

And all the various team leaders were doing the same. They were all denying that doping was taking place, that they had anything to do with it, etc.

Yep, I had already read what he said. Thanks.

He sued the Sunday Times for libel and won. Presumably he lied, and therefore could be done for perjury, which could mean he'll be jailed.
Not sure why you presume that. I doubt that he even went to court - the onus would be on the newspaper to substantiate their claims, not on the claimant to refute them.

Sounds like most CEOs or boardmembers of many corporations. He also made a shitload of money for his sponsors. I still think that era was the most exciting to follow. I would be in favor of bringing back a doping league.

Now there's a marketing idea - an openly transparent, full disclosure league of drug-addled athletes. Specially designed spandex with injection ports/ventilation holes at the major veins. Instead of goo and bottles of water, packets of crystal meth and cans of red bull. UCI needs to look into this.

He may as well have them back because everyone else was doing the same.

Re: Lance Armstrong charged with doping by USADA

Yes, the others doped..and when they stood on the podium they accepted their jerseys and quietly walked off. If you gonna cheat, don't bring extra attention on yourself.

Not LA. He made a whole industry based on being "clean", and tried to destroy anyone who blew the whistle. He deserves what he got.

I understand this comment as sarcastic because of the emoji.

I never dared to use that argument either since the day my German aunt used it to defend old nazis. But maybe it's just me and the argument in itself is fine. I don't know.

We all have to admit that Armstrong is an amasing story teller. If he doesn't deserve the milions for sports, he does for his showbiz talents.

Are you saying that as everyone was taking drugs this excuses LA?

It's one thing to lie...it's another to do it under oath.
