Allright, so my German is pretty basic, but I still enjoy flicking through the Blick am Abend on my 10 min train ride home in the evening. Not because it's great journalism, nicely set up, or because even I can spot grammatical errors, but because of this crazy section called "Singles des Tages".
To put it lightly, it's hilarious

One of the funniest things I've noticed is when the male candidate is asked the question "Which celebrity do you look up to?" (or "impresses you", something along those lines).
I swear it.... half of them or so answer "Vin Diesel"

Come on, that just can't be right! So many people can't agree on this

Is it a Swiss thing like the Nickelback/James Blunt radio obsession I read about somewhere on EF, or is it the journalist who's subtly trolling?

My favorite is under the topic of hobbies so many write: Going Out, or Hanging out with friends.

I think these people need to understand what a hobby is :P

I had no idea about that person and so first looked him up on the internet and then asked our relatively young shop-salesman about it. What he knew, while not liking V.D. much, made it clear that V.D. with his action-films and stunts does exactly what many 17-21 years old would like to do themselves. Good looking but not mixed into scandals, and so for people of that age bracket an idol.

I prefer 'Schnuegel des Tages'

Ditto. Although I try to steer clear of Blick, I just find it so trashy... Borderline tabloid material. Plus the picture of a half naked woman on the cover makes me grumpy every time. I mean there a lots of great looking men in switzerland, why aren't they on the cover?

Blick is trash. It is still a classic scandalmonger-paper. Even if grammar and journalistic professionalism have vastly improved over the years. Gone are the days, when Blick titled "Blick sprach zuerst mit dem Toten" (Blick was first to speak with the dead man) or when in 1960, they titled "has Chroushtshow died ? " and this five years before he was toppled by Brezhnew and Kossigyn.

My favourite cover story is actually from the morning paper "20 min". It's just such an awesome photoshop work they did. The fox being the same size as the kid and everything

Personally, I am rather delighted to see a half naked woman after a hard day's work, but that's just me I guess...different strokes for different folks

Depends what kind of strokes I guess...
